Cotch missed games and played hurt through most of the year Holmes missed the first 4 games LT was considered washed up in SD and after a great first month was pretty bad the rest of the season he led us to ELEVEN wins, that is the only stat that matters. stop w/ the dropped INts, does he get credit for dropped TDs which he had multiple of? or how about bogus INTs like the 2 vs. GB? he was top 10 good in 2010, he was really good. In 2011 we severely downgraded the talent around him. we struggled to run most of the year, Plax, LT and Mason would be out of football after that season. It's incredible how people just post black and white things w/o actually looking at the circumstances. People act like we had the 85 Bears D, our D was good NOT great. Our run game was good NOT great. even if they were great(which they weren't) it's hard to win 4 road playoff games in 2 years w/ poor QB play- it's hard to even make the playoffs.
And an atrocious atrocious offensive line. Go look at the FIRST offensive play of 2011 (it's not longer on youtube so couldn't post it), it set the tone for the entire year and started the downfall of Sanchez. Demarcus Ware runs by Wayne Hunter untouched and simply destroys Sanchez right in the chest. First play of the year. Not the second, not the 5th. Not the 10th. The freaking play of the year. _
He threw for 26TD's in 2011 a very good number. The league average was 23.3 so he was over the median by a decent amount. He was also over the mean by a decent amount in INT's, substantially below the mean for passing yards and first downs passing the ball and below the mean for completion percentage. Where he did pretty well is in yards per attempt. That's a very important stat because if a QB isn't passing for a high completion percentages but he's moving his team down the field at the same rate or better then a guy with a high completion percentage the overall results can be just as good. It also creates more risk and more INT's but it might be mitigated by less pressure on the run game? Based on the kind of passing stats that were being put up in the league in 2011it's not unreasonable to say Sanchez was right about in the middle of the pack. Unfortunately he was being paid as if he was close to the top of the pack and as we all know value matters in a capped environment. As bad as Geno has been this year cutting Sanchez will allow the Jets to put more talent on the field and around the QB position. If you have an average QB that's clearly very important. Something both the pro and anti-Sanchez posters seem to agree on. I simply can't see keeping Sanchez, even as an upgrade to Geno unless he's willing to take a substantial cut without a guarantee to be the starter. If I were Sanchez I would rather risk FA and the chance to start elsewhere then be in that situation with the Jets. There is simply no upside for this organization to be handcuffed with a high priced QB who is a middle of the pack at best player. The Jets new GM parted with Revis who was a high priced player who was giving the team the best results at his position in the league. I just can't see Sanchez as part of this team moving forward based on where the Jets GM seems to be positioning the team going forward.
OMG this thread keeps getting worst. Can we please focus on Geno.... only? Sanchez and 1.2.or 3 years ago should not even be mentioned here at all continuously. Sent from my LG-LS720 using Tapatalk
I just dabble checked. You're right way below the league average. I take it back he did suck in 2011. Average is an insult all the none elite QB's in the NFL.
it boggles my mind that fans just look at blind #s as if they tell us everything we need to know. one second you have the wrong #s and this poster is telling us he was good, then he finds out # was wrong and now he sucks. How about we actually watch football? just embarrassing.
Biggs, I don't get into this Sanchez discussion much for the reason you alluded to above. Which is that if I were Sanchez, I would not want to come back to the Jets. Why would he? Next year he will be in his last year. Of a very expensive contract. He can effectively force the Jets to trade him by not redoing his contract. By not redoing the contract the Jets do not get help on cap space from his contract, and would be looking at starting a Qb in the final year of his contract - unless the circumstances are exceptional, teams do not want to do that. Sanchez will either be cut or traded. So the discussion here about keeping him is pointless.
You are right, apologies. It was just ironic all the things being mentioned now--no talent around him, no offensive line, a ground and pound coach, an "archaic" OC, a defense not getting him turnovers, etc. My bad, done here, sorry. _
Lol oh I get it and enjoyed it. It's funny reading the post here since week 2. No need to apologize to me but I think since it's a Geno thread it should be only about Geno. Sent from my LG-LS720 using Tapatalk
Sanchez still had to make reads, make plays, get them in position for those calls to be useful. Plenty of great coaches have had great talent and failed to have a QB deliver in a scheme. To say well Burress and Moore could have put anyone back there isn't fair to say.
He rushed for 6 - accounted for 32 total TDs. That offense was about quick reads, slants, screens - Sanchez took advantage of his running backs and hot reads to make up for a week offense line that got him nearly killed during some games.
everyone was fighting to sign Plax after the 2011 season, no teams need a RZ threat like that and have you noticed how great the RZ efficiency of Ten last year and Ari this year w/ Tom Moore have been?
You and I know this but if your agenda is that everything he's ever done has sucked or, if positive, is atributable to someone else or something else other than Sanchez, that's what you get. _
It's just that the lack of big plays, red zone turnovers, fumbles, and pick 6's is somewhat erry... Leads me to believe it's not nessisarly the QB, but the lack of organizational commitment to anything on the offensive side if the ball...
