I'd rather they find a vet which makes more senses unless they are moving on from Geno period, which I'm not sure they do unless he really blows it down the stretch.

I'll leave myself a reminder. I'd like to revisit this discussion later.

You don't know that for sure.

Smith may never make it as an NFL starting QB.

Until this year Josh Freeman looked like he could have been the answer for Tampa.

Look at how guys like Kurt Warner and Tom Brady came out of nowhere to win Superbowls and become future Hall of Famers.

If we do not draft a QB it would not surprise me to see Simms or Sanchez start for us next year while Geno Smith continues to figure things out.

We do not need an all pro QB but someone who can help us move the chains without turning over the ball. I think Simms can be that guy.

In terms of our QB of the future I would try to add Ryan Mallet to the mix when he becomes a UFA in 2015. If Brady stays healthy he will come cheap with plenty of upside.

    SANCHEZ. IS. GONE.

he will not be a jet next year. its over.

exactly, at most we'll get a candidate right on that level with geno coming out without getting a another valuable edition with our first.

They'll play it BPA, odds are the only QB candidates good enough for the pick the jets will get will be gone, in their place a valuable pass rusher or receiver will be available.

you could tell me the jets drafted a QB with a 3rd or MAYBE a 2nd and I'll believe you, but a first is a waste at this point.

All this talk of drafting another QB, even a CB in realm of replacing Cro...why cant we ever just sign quality free agents? Im sure they'll be good FA qb to battle Geno.

On the bright side the Jets will have a lot of money to play with next off season. They can get aggressive in free agency to bring in some proven offensive weapons. The QB position needs an option besides smith. Simms might be lighting in a bottle..we know smith is nothing but a passing shower at this point.

Now if they were getting Bridgewater or marmots I'd be all for it.... But they aren't. So draft an area of need. Take Mike Evans if he is available, but Manziel just isn't the answer either. It's a difficult spot. It would be nice if Geno just steps up and stopped sucking

If the Jets go out next week and beat Baltimore but do it with 170 yards rushing, 115 yards passing, and no TD through the air you have to still say Geno isn't bringing anything to the table. They need to be able to do something through the air and Geno doesn't look like he can. His confidence is shot and he needs to just sit for a week, watch and see. McElroy got a chance last season and got everyone excited.

Why does everyone think Geno is trash?

Eli turned over the ball a ton early on...he won two superbowls...sign me up for that ASAP.

I don't care if Geno isn't the next Tom Brady or Peyton Manning...he can be the next Eli Manning or Trent Dilfer for all I care - just get us a Super Bowl

Mark Sanchez had nearly identical stats to Eli Manning -- He also has 4 playoff victories...he is hated by many Jet fans. Geno is on pace to be worse then Sanchez as a rookie -- he doesn't even show the big play ability or make you think he can bring a team back -- Sanchez had that it factor as a rookie. Who thinks Geno can get the ball right now with 90 seconds left and needing a FG and move the ball 50 yards?

He not playing well. It's not just turnovers. Eli had a pedigree, Geno doesn't. He needs to show something, he just hasn't to me.

    He has 4 game-winning drives?

So - I do. He has a huge arm, and has proven time after time that when he stays upright for a whole game....he will do well.

If he gets his early he gets rattled.

I agree he doesn't have a pedigree...but neither did Brady.

We have too many holes on this team and a lack of playmakers to bail on Geno already. I get we got Holmes and Kellen Winslow back..but that's not a real weapon.

Wins are a team stat. Once you start mistaking it for a QB stat, you start to lose sight of how a QB played in a game and how he contributed. And if you want to use wins, remember the Jets were 4-6 in 2009 after 10 games, the current Jets are 5-5 with a much less talented supporting cast around their QB.

He doesn't show the ability to bring the team back? What are you talking about? IF there's one thing he's shown, it's the ability to not get fazed or give up. He has 2 fourth quarter comebacks and 4 game winning drives in 5 wins. Sanchez had 1 of each in his rookie year.

Are you kidding me, in the scenario you just described, I absolutely trust Geno to do it. The thing is, I don't know if Geno and company can play well enough to bring us to that spot.

Ohhh the IT factor? What's the IT factor he showed in his rookie year? The IT factor everyone likes to talk about actually showed up in his sophomore year, where the Jets won many close games and he had a number of 4th quarter comebacks and game winning drives. In his first year the book on Sanchez was, "if you limit it and don't let him turn the ball over, you can win with him". Geno's book is the same thing.

Yeah but Brady didn't need a pedigree.

Once he got on the field he didn't look for excuses, he just won football games.

What? The last 5 games he has been a disaster - AWFUL! 51.7% comp. 1 TD 9 TO...he has done nothing. I am tired of hearing that he is a good QB because he has a short term memory about his mistakes. Maybe that is the problem because he keeps making the same mistakes!!

Do you really think Geno is looking for excuses? When has he complained about his line or his weapons?

He hangs in the pocket and gets hammered multiple times a game, sometimes completing those passes even. He apologizes to his teammates for his mistakes. He's not making excuses - he is growing as a NFL Quarterback.

Eli sucks too, Pats imploded at crucial times in both Super bowls.

The helmet catch was lucky, Asante Samuel dropped a game ending pick and Wes Welker dropped a game ending reception.

Eli is a streaky QB and a reckless thrower of the ball.

My position is neutral. I'm not saying dump him, but I'm also not saying blindly keep him like sanchez

I don't care how you say it - fluke, luck, whatever - he won two freaking Super Bowls....you're saying you don't want that unless we have a QB who comes out and fucking lights it up?
