Hey stop using a rational argument. Seriously tho, he has a lot of fundamental flaws. Its like he has no ability to understand the defense. I mean on so many sacks its just knowing theyre going to blitz and he just holds the ball. Get rid of it. You know theyre coming they were not disguising blitzs well or at all. Its like hes not getting it. Whatever is called he just runs it even tho its clear, its not going to work.
3-4 seconds is not enough, especially when you are down by a few scores. He could not have the luxury of playing checkdown like what Manuel did for much of the 1st half. Geno was under duress for much of the game, no QB can function properly like that.
Dude stop saying oh hes a rookie. He should not be this bad. His production or upside does not outweigh his mistakes. This is about more than just being a rookie. Nobody is expecting luck manning or brady. Being Sanchez or Freeman 2.0 isnt cool either
This is what he did with Jeff Cumberland, and he threw a pick. They showed a clip of him and cumberland point with their hands where Cumberland was supposed to make his break. Who knows who's fault that goes, but another miscommunication on their part
Geno was a bust before he even went into the draft. Watch the WV tape, his receivers made him everything he is hyped up to be. He would throw 5 yard passes that would end up being 60 yard TD's. Tayvon Austin and Stedman Bailey made Geno. Other than those big plays, Geno was average. The guy is simply not that good.
How do you not understand that timing routes need to be thrown at the end of your drop back, Geno holds on the ball after his dropback and stares at his primary the whole time, he doesn't pick up the blitzes at the LoS. Geno pretty much has to have his wide receiver Wide open to throw the ball, this is the NFL, anticipate the throws and pick up blitzes or he will not be a starter in 3 years.
I could see defending Geno if he is repeatedly going 3 and out. When at least every other drive is not just a turnover but a pick six it doesn't matter how good your defense is.
he doesn't seem to lack confidence - its just the game is too quick for him and his decision making is poor at the moment - I get too worked up with stuff and am too quick to condemn, I guess I am just sick (and tired) of constantly having a bottom 5 QB - why is it that the Jets can never get a decent QB, seriously we had a reasonable QB in Pennington but he was made of glass and we just don't ever seem to have had anyone that you would class as a top tier QB - ever.
Not good? He was 20/23 for two TD's today. He has a 59.6 completion percentage, 9 TD's and 4 INT's (plus one fumble). I'd salivate if Sanchez or Geno ever gave us anything close to that in their rookie year.
Did you see the game where guys were coming through on Winters or Howard and throw Geno out of the pocket and have him scramble to get sacked or run out of bounds? How the heck can you get timing routes perfected when your down a decent chunk and when the Bills pass rush throws everything off balance? The pocket collapsed early and often on the kid. It throws the entire route out of rhythm essentially. What your saying makes sense is if for a majority of the game, Geno has time to actually dissect the field and not lock onto a primary receiver but he can't. He does what you want and start to look at 3 guys, he's going to get pummeled.
He stared down Cumby the whole time so the defender that was playing the robber zone just followed Geno's eyes and undercut the route, it was a god awful throw as well, way underthrown and not even close to in front of him.
And his games against the Titans and Cardinals were just as bad. The Titan game he had five turnovers. The Cardinal game he had three turnovers and got pulled for the Alabama midget.
The Falcons secondary sucks.....Geno had his best game and a near perfect game too vs that secondary and that was when the Falcons had an urgency of giving a crap for their season and in Atlanta.
Although Geno had no time, sometimes you've got to be able to move around a bit. Make a guy miss. Buy some time. Today he didn't do that at all. For all his 4.5 speed he just stood there and threw hurried passes to the wrong team or out of bounds. When some guy is sprinting at you full speed, it's very possible to step to the side and make them miss. But the whole game he didn't do that. And haven't seen that ability much in general with him, now that I think about it. Today I was flipping to the Steelers game though, so that's a huge contrast. Ultimately I think Geno is the wrong type of quarterback for this team. Ryan wants to spend all the money on defense. If he's going to have a weak oline and weak receivers, he better at least have a qb who's really good at avoiding the rush and buying time. Geno might put up some serious offense on a team with a good oline and receivers, but the Jets maybe aren't a good fit.
Glennon isn't great but he uses the ball sensibly. On the other hand, we keep handing the QB job to retarded gunslingers.
Geno just continued his inconsistencies. You see a QB who is overwhelmed when the OL can't give him time. I would be interested to see All 22 to see the routes/protection because it seemed like whenever BUF blitzed, they beat the protection. Rarely room to step up too. I think you let Geno continue another game because you really don't know what you have yet. You see the glimpses then you see the bad within games and especially every other week. Sidenote, this team overall outside Geno has been inconsistent too. Can't believe this is the same team that upset NO and NE at home.
Once again why is Sanchez being mentioned? Stay on Geno as he is not Sanchez. Sent from my LG-LS720 using Tapatalk
Goes back to my point about not picking up blitzes, they were not disguising the pressure so you have to adjust your protection as the QB.
