Had a great game against the Jags which I was at and he was amazing. But in the long run he turned out to be a real ass. Hard to even watch him now. So his opinion on how a locker should act means nothing to me.
Chrebet was probably overrated by Jets fans and underrated by the rest. Look past the undrafted white guy out of Hofstra that didnt wear gloves...dude was a hell of a WR and could play both the inside and outside. He actually had a more efficient year than Keyshawn did in 1998. I realize he was thr #2 guy, but his 98 season was awesome too.
Wayne had a great 1998 season but was nowhere near as good as Key. That was the lone year that Wayne deserved to make a pro bowl and key was a HUGE reason why commanding all the attention of the D's.
Chrebet was a good receiver after Keyshawn left. Both guys benefited from Vinny having his best season of his career in 98 too. Chrebet was good even prior to Keyshawn being here. He got open out of the slot better than anyone in the league at the time. Keyshawn's time in Tampa was hurt by crappy QB's- but that's true with most WR's. I wish Chrebet were in his prime now, we could use him.
I didn't say Wayne sucked but he was at his peak in 1998 and both were better b/c of each other. The only PB worthy season Wayne had was in 1998 and Key was a major reason why.
I think it was on NFLN that Warren Sapp also called out Keyshawn for his lack of preparation when on the Bucs. Sapp was the leader of that team and a tough guy and he didn't appreciate it when Key didn't show up for certain team workouts. As usual Sapp didn't mince his words and didn't try to hide his dislike for Keyshawn who had plenty of problems with Grudin, etc. when he was on the Bucs.
"Key?" MEshawn Johnson, a hellava player. And a hypocrite who publically belittled a Jet teammate in print and whose surly arrogance caused dislike and resentment even in a Super Bowl-winning environment. Like Parcells once said: when troubles seem to keep finding you...maybe it's YOU.
Lol. The dude is 3rd all time Jets in receptions, yards and TDs. You can't be overrated with those numbers. He is one of the all-time greatest Jets. And he was 75th all time receptions in NFL history. He was an outstanding NFL player. _
