According to NFL Outsider our OL is 22nd (I think somewhere around 14-18 would be fair).

    http://www.footballoutsiders.com/stats/ol

    Bottom five:

28 Cleveland Browns (I guess Joe Thomas has no help)
29 Tennessee Titans (I thought Warmack and Levitre would be awesome together)
30 NY Giants (Got old fast, they used to be good, at least they drafted OL)
31 Baltimore Ravens (Did not see this one coming)
    32 Jaguars (Who else?)

Neither the OL or the Flight Crew are NFL top 5.

    Not yet anyway.

Well Brick is having a down year but I think yeah they're top 5 if Ducasse starts at LT instead.

    Miami was ranked 25.

Since the rankings seem to based upon this year's stats I have a feeling that Miami will find their was from 8th worst into the bottom 5 soon enough.

no, and id argue its bottom 5-10. mangold is top 5 at his position. fergeson is a top 10 tackle... and even then he isnt great in the run game and has regressed a bit. everyone else is pretty bad although i like winters potential.

but i mean, we cant pass protect and our run protection is inconsistent at best

No, sorry. It was stated on a Jets SNY show. They said it so casually too, as if it were popular belief.

Its average to above average slightly. When you have a rookie QB and awful passing game Defenses just stack the box. It also doesnt help that Geno holds onto the ball way too long. Also have Ducasse start the year hurt the stats.

weak response legler. Geno like most young QBs does tend to hold the ball too long at times. It is obvious that the OL has a rookie at LG and a free agent at RG. The OL does not have much consistency yet. I think they do better in the run game then in the passing game. I expect Winters to step up after the bye and I also expect Geno to. Its a team game still and even the fan boys might know that!

no way, we're probably somewhere right smack in the middle of the pack.

Its not like Geno holds the ball too long all the time. Many times he does not have that option because the defense is already on him. The OL is not pass blocking all that well this year. but when they do Geno sometimes holds it too long. Could it be because of unfamiliar receivers? Yet other times its out very quickly and accurately. Winters seems to be improving each game. Bohannon the other rookie on offense lets some defenders get in too quickly too. Its a team game!

It is good and has gotten way better since Winters restored Big Vlad to a position he can handle - third blocking tight end reporting eligible

I don't watch enough other teams to be sure. After all, look at the Saints game where we spent a goodly amount of time up Brees's bunghole. Do the Saints have a poor OL or was that a poor game? I don't know myself as that is the only Saints game I've seen this year. The problem is that these rankings are relative. So even tho we have holes in our OL I am prepared to believe that other teams do as well. The question then becomes one of rating the deficiencies and the only way to do that would be to watch the competition regularly.

All that said, I'll throw out what I've already said is only a semi-educated opinion: I suspect we are middle of the pack. Howard looks good, Colon is still adequate and gets the job done. On the other side we have an underperforming Brick, as well as an underperforming Mangold, and a painfully inexperienced Winters. Even as it is this is a decent line. Remember that Turnstile Hunter was much worse than any of these guys and he was starting, I think, a year ago for the Rams. I'd argue that most teams have at least one OLman worse than our five. The problem seems to be that they may other a bunch of others better. So what would you prefer? 4 very good OLmen and 1 Wayne Hunter type? Or, say, 3 good OLmen and 2 decent? One has a huge whole but can dominate certain areas while the other fails to dominate but has no glaring weakness to attack. There are other scenarios, of course, but you get the idea. For my part, I think I'd take 3/2 most of the time.

I think Ducasse needs to get his head together to start again, but in principle I agree. If not for the stupid penalties he would still be starting. While Winters has made progress, he is no where near as good as Ducasse on running plays, and only a modest upgrade on passing downs. However, he has been a huge upgrade in penalties and that matters a lot! If Ducasse gets the penalties under control I think he can still be a very good starter.

Top 5? No. Somewhere in between 10-15 sounds right for this Line. They are definitely not close to the weakest spot on this team that's for sure. The O line play will be affected by the players around them. The weakest positions on this team in order are: WR, Secondary, Shifty RB, Receiving TE, Pass rushing OLB and then O Line.

Not sure if the Jets O-line is all that good or if most teams have an even shittier O-line.

Seems like when the media talks about ANY team this year, the conversation sooner or later mentions the team's O-line is struggling.

Does ANY team have a dominant O-line this year?

Being top 5 in a bucket of shit still means you're shit.
