SJU looked really bad. A lot of the same problems they had last year were clearly evident tonight. Not a good start.

The Heels played great in their opener, I just wish the suspension cloud was lifted. if this is the team that will play all season they can make the Tourney and maybe win a game or 2 but that's it, a full squad has FF potential(not a favorite but could make a run). I was very happy w/ the opener though, McAdoo was great, Paige was great, Meeks showed a lot and Tokoto stepped up- can he do that against better competition though?

You can tell all that from a win over Oakland?

I say this knowing full well that UNC routinely plays one of the tougher Non-conference schedules of major conference teams, so I'm not trying to take a dig at that.

I'm just saying that a ho-hum home win over Oakland can't possibly show you that much about what kind of team they will be.

When is Jay Wright going to understand that winning basketball requires his team to play for forty minutes?

It's more about what I expected coming into the season than the win over Oakland.

OK, so let's hear the predictions: Tomorrow Night #1 Kentucky vs. #2 MSU in Chicago. Who wins?

I'm going to agree with you. It's hard to name many other coaches who have won as many big-time neutral site games as Tom Izzo.

Michigan State...not too mnay one and dones with Izzo and I think Kentucky will show some signs of being a group of new players although once they get the chemistry solved I'll expect them to be in the discussion for a national title

The games so far have been crazy, with the new rules.

They rarely call charges, and tons of fouls are being called. Not just hand checks, either.

A lot of players either fouling out or in foul trouble throughout the game.

    LSU/UMass 182 points, WVU/VT 169 points, NMS/Hawai'i 183 points, BYU/Stanford 215 points

None of those games went to OT.

I can't stand 3 of the 4 teams playing tonight but what a doubleheader. events like this are great for college basketball.

Who would be the one you can tolerate? Michigan State? I actually don't mind Kansas but I outright loathe the other 2.

MSU, I like Izzo and Carolina always beats them(until they play in a few weeks).

I liked Kansas when Roy was there, I can't stand them now. Not on a duke level but I dislike Self and KU.

How in the world can you not respect Self? The guy had to take over for a legend, and is standing tall on his own.

He walked into a perfect situation and has only made 2 FFs w/ one of them being thanks to Carolina players getting hurt. His teams underachieve in march every year.

This... even his national title was an absolute gift.

Losses to Bucknell (a year they had bene ranked #1 for a good majority) , Western Kentucky and Northern Iowa (as the #1 overall seed) would seem to indicate he is a good November-Feb coach but when the pressure is on his teams usually don't come through.

Difference in this Michigan State/Kentucky game is that Michigan state is getting such high % shots by attacking the hoop. Kentucky is settling for so much ISO, 1 on 1 ball and just taking jumpers.
