MUCH better weapons? are you fucking crazy. He's had literally the SAME weapons Kerley, Hill, Cumberland - all used as excuses for Sanchez. All look decent in 2013. (ok, Hill maybe not) Those are his top 3 pass catchers and those Sanchez's top 3 pass catchers. Same FUCKING guys
8 of Mark's 12 INts came in 2 games, he had 4 games w/o an INT. geno has just 2 games w/o an INT and one came when he threw 19 passes which I think 18 of them were screens last week. mark was more consistent, he wasn't turning it over every game. geno also has how many TOs for TDs? safeties, RZ TOs? mark was MUCH better through 9 games. will he be better through 16 and beyond? I hope not, I hope Geno is great the 2nd half but we'll see.
Kerley was his #1 WR last year, this year most of the year he has been the #3 option. Hill was a ROOKIE and was hurt most of the year, he is a 2nd yr healthy player this year. Cumberland saw his FIRST extensive playing time last year. HUGE difference btw last year and this year. It boggles my mind that people actually watch these games and still have no clue what they are watching. last year we started CHAZ SCHILENS- he's not even in the league anymore. last year we had Holmes for 3 games last year the top 2 weapons missed most of the season last year we had TONY SPARANO, this year we have Marty. last year the OL and run game were significantly worse. do you guys seriously watch football?
we were comparing weapons from last year to this year. comparing 2009 to 2013 the '09 unit would get the edge BUT he did have Stuckey starting for 4 games and we acquired Braylon going into game 5. No offseason, no TC, no preseason to work with him BUT Cotch and Keller were good players. The '09 run game is incredibly overrated, people just look at raw #s w/o actually watching games. tell me the games the run game carried us to wins like it did last Sunday?
So full of it junc, you know the Jets weren't hiding Geno with the exception of the Saints game right? The Jets in 2009 did everything in their power to limit Sanchez. Despite having a better o-line and running game. It's ok junc to admit you have a personal vendetta against Geno Smith. I didn't like Geno at first either. eventually you will grow to like the kid.
It's not a personal vendetta against Geno. Rex is not the only person who got a number 6 tattoo in a special place.
You can STFU about Kerley and Cumberland because you know you are wrong and just grasping for answers. How is Chaz Schilens any different than fucking David Nelson? A: They aren't, they just have a better QB delivering them passes. The only real difference, outside of the QB position, is a better coordinator. I'll give you that. But I seem to remember you coming to Sparano's defense most of last year- dusting him aside so easily now for an argument eh? Junc- I used to think you were just a respectable homer, you backed up Sanchez like you backed up Pennington, etc, because they are "our" guys... But if you are going to sit here and argue that Geno Smith has "MUCH better" weapons than Sanchez did, and not give him the same benefit of the doubt as you did your boy, then you are showing your true colors as a selfish asshole. You are about winning an argument, not actually watching your rooting interest and being respectful about it. Peace out - enjoy arguing with people who give a shit.
Saw an article today about the Cowboys and their 32nd ranked defense. Anyone who thinks Rob Ryan does not know a thing or two about defense should read: http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nfl-s...admits-might-mistake-fire-152023779--nfl.html Jerry Jones states obvious, admits it might have been a mistake to fire defensive coordinator Rob Ryan (USA Today Sports Images) The Dallas Cowboys fired defensive coordinator Rob Ryan after last season, and Ryan gave the famous quote that he would be out of work "for like five minutes." His bravado was correct. The Saints hired him shortly after he was fired and Ryan has completely turned around a New Orleans defense that ranked dead last in the league last year. Who has taken the Saints' spot at the 32nd ranked defense in the NFL? Yep, the Dallas Cowboys. That might get a man like Cowboys owner Jerry Jones to thinking, especially after seeing his defense give up 40 first downs (!!!) to the Saints on Sunday night. "We thought it was best for us to go in the direction that we are, and it doesn't look good right now," Jones said to ESPNDallas.com. Oh, you think so, doctor? The Cowboys replaced Ryan with 73-year-old Monte Kiffin, who was coming off a failure at USC. Kiffin is one of the titans of the game among assistant coaches, but he doesn't seem to be the right fit in Dallas. The Cowboys broke an NFL record by allowing four 400-yard games by quarterbacks in a season, and broke that record in their eighth game. Drew Brees took it easy on them Sunday night and threw for just 392 yards. "Hopefully we can make it look good, but I have all the feelings that you have when you want to look back at a decision, and I realize when some of them work you have to have a few things go along with it," Jones continued about the decision to fire Ryan. The Cowboys have dealt with a lot of defensive injuries, and suffered another tough one Sunday night when linebacker Sean Lee hurt his hamstring. The defense won't get much better as long Lee is out. Jones has made a few poor decisions as Cowboys owner (and, to be fair, some good ones too). Every week that his defense gives up a ton of yards and points in front of him, and perhaps blows the team's chances of winning the NFC East, he'll be reminded of one of his biggest recent errors.
we were 4-5 in 2009 after 9 games, we lost 2 games b/c of the QB. we are 5-4 this year and have lost 3 games b/c of the QB I have nothing against Smith, unlike you guys w/ Mark I am rooting for Geno but to pretend like he has been better in 2013 than mark in 2009 isn't being accurate. LOL you said STFU, LOL, LOL, LOL!!!!!! can you grow up please? The fact that you are asking about the difference btw Schilens and nelson tells me all I need to know about what you know about this game. Geno's weapons this year have been MUCH better than Mark's especially when you factor in improved OL, run game and the incredible difference in OC.
Ohh my fault I thought you were comparing both QBs rookie year. The 09 run game might have been overrated but it is still better than the one we have now imo. For games it won. How about Raiders Bills Buccs Colts and Bengals. The run game was pretty dominant at times in 09. Sanchez definitely helped get us out to that 3-0 start and was very good but he was put on the back burner for most of the season once the mistakes started to pile up.
the man who is afraid to debate but always whines about me. also the man that tells us how great a GM Bill Parcells was. Let that sink in to those who are reading this thread.
I am not sure it is better than what we have w/ a healthy Ivory. I think they are similar. The OL was better in 2009 though. we won last week against an elite team and we couldn't throw and our D allowed 20+ pts- that didn't really happen in 2009. We won first w/ defense but 2nd was probably the pass game making plays. The run #s were excellent but how many yards did we get in garbage time?
Id take Ivory over Jones but I think that 09 O line in run blocking was much better. Also Jones is more durable than ivory. If Ivory plays the rest of the season without missing time I might change my tune.
junc is a good guy except for his delusional manlove and irrational defense of Mr. Buttfumble Hopefully, next season, when Mr B is gone goodbye forever, there is a chance that he may be able to return to sanity
Geno has taken more chances than Mark did last year though......so with that you can get TDs just as much as you can get INTs. Also Sanchez had 3 years of starting experience on the NFL level last year vs Geno being a rookie....that clearly gives Sanchez a head start, even if he was trying to learn a new offense.
I agree with you. That is more a reflection of the OC and I wouldn't say the TOs were a reflection of taking chances. very few have been downfield. No QB would have succeeded last year. I am very hopeful for Geno, I hope as his weapons get healthier(and hopefully stay healthy) he'll start to move forward again and help us make the playoffs.
Because why bother? The fact that you said Geno had a better offensive line and running game throws this whole discussion out the window. I have nothing against Mark, but his time here is over it's time to move on junc. Let's see what happens the next 7 games, but the fact that Geno is making an impact LATE in games gives him the edge right now. I would rather have Jones then Ivory RIGHT NOW because Jones was more consistent at the position. Also, you had a young Greene and a veteran in Richardson blocking.
you think our run game and OL last year were better than this year? if so you may want to pick up another hobby. the "GW drives" are overblown. week 1 the only reason we needed one was b/c of Geno's TOs and he got lucky he got hit OOB. at Atl he was GREAT, excellent performance. vs. NE did you notice we ran it to win the game? really he's had the one great late game performance at Atlanta. mark had a million late game performances. as far as 2009, Ivory is more dynamic than Jones and I LOVED Thomas Jones. our O was much better when Leon was healthy b/c it gave the QB an option in the pass game. Greene was fine as a complimentary back and had some great runs in the playoffs. I think our OL was better in 2009, the RBs if healthy I'd go '09 b/c of Leon but he got hurt early. I'll take this group assuming(a big assumption) Ivory can remain healthy. when did we ever batter an opponent the way Ivory did last week? a GREAT opponent on a day we couldn't throw the ball no less.
