LOL JStokes is a troubled child! We tolerate him but he is easily flustered and cries easily. He has his panties all in a bunch because I have been critical of his hero aka Suckchez!

Those QB's are gonna be so much better than Geno we'd be fools to pass up on one of them!!!!!!

There still is a lot of season left to evaluate Geno. People declaring him the One or writing him off are still too early in their assessment. A lot can happen either way in the games left this season.

If he stinks it up you could very well be right.

If he continues to improve every week however - are you still going to feel that we 'need' to draft one of the QB prospects? Even if there is a top flight game changing WR or pass rusher available?

There is a message board called "Draft" if you want to talk about QBs in the draft. Last I checked, this was the Geno Smith thread.

Really? How many "Blue Chip" QBs in the current NFL were drafted after the second round?

Right now, out of 32 teams, I count three - Brady, Wilson, and Romo. Every other blue chip QB, and virtually every other starter, was drafted in the first or second round.

The Jets would be idiots to draft a QB with a first or second round pick next year when the player available would not be a better prospect than Smith. I don't mind drafting a QB in rounds 4 or 5, but doing that would not be to create competition, but to find a quality back up. How many successful NFL teams have unsettled QB situations with competition? This theory that Sanchez needed competition and so does Smith is BS. What Smith needs is offseason reps and weapons, not another offseason competition. Remember, each QB that competes for the starting job takes OTA and preseason reps from Smith. How is that good?

The college QBs that people are talking about in this thread will be gone by the time the Jets pick in the first round. The Jets need to spend their first two or three picks addressing other needs. Unlike every other position, only one player can play QB. BPA makes no sense with that position. A team can play 2-3-4 players at other positions with their being multiple players who play those positions at the same time or with rotations.

agreed 100%, either pick up an obvious upgrade or don't worry about it till later in the draft.

I mean if bridgewater fell on our lap and geno regresses hard this stretch of course go for it, but any other kind of scenario seems like a waste of time and opportunity.

not drafting a top prospect WR and taking reps away from geno to gel with receivers seems like its doing both.

I think it has been proven (especially this season) that no matter who the QB is without weapons they will suck. This whole notion that great QBs can make shit WRs good is asinine and made up by the media and uneducated fans.

Geno still has a lot to prove MM has hid a lot of his flaws and DC now have some film on him. With that being said I have seen growth in the first few games Geno would not step up in the pocket I have now seen him do that a few times. He still struggles under center and that will hurt the ground and pound. I like how he stands tall in the pocket but as most rookie Qbs he holds the ball to long and struggles going through his progressions.

The thing about the NFL is that there are no zero, nada ,zilch great teams so the Jets have a good chance to make a run.

I wouldn't go as far as to say "suck".

Geno has not sucked this year and we can all agree that he has had none, if any, weapons on offense. Tom Brady also had shitty weapons before Gronk came back and he was far from sucking.

If Holmes stays healthy the rest of the season, I think the final 8 games we will see a MUCH better Geno Smith out there - I'm talking less TOs and more TDs, maybe he goes on a little streak

He has had decent weapons most of the year(until very recently) and he has not been good. He's been ok somewhat for a rookie.

Geno's first 9 NFL games: Overall record of 5-4. 158/272, a completion percentage of 58.0%, 1,997 passing yards (average of 7.3 yards per pass attempt), 8 passing TD's/13 INT's, 36 rushes for 172 rushing yards (average of 4.7 yards per rush) and 3 rushing TD's. Average QB Rating after 9 games of 73.3.

Mark's first 9 NFL games: Overall record of 4-5. 130/244, a completion percentage of 53.2%, 1,655 passing yards (average of 6.7 yards per pass attempt), 9 passing TD's/12 INT's, 24 rushes for 62 rushing yards (average of 2.5 yards per rush) and 3 rushing TD's. Average QB Rating after 9 games of 72.9.

Didn't you say Mark had a good year for a rookie? This is before Mark started shitting the bed even more the next 7 games. Geno Smith so far has had a better year then Mark. And Mods don't hate on me for putting Mark into the convo, it's pretty much our litmus test

    Junc - don't be a damn hypocrite.

He's had virtually the same weapons Sanchez had, yet you use them as an excuse for your boy, but Geno gets the "decent weapons" treatment.

up until recently we had MUCH better weapons than a year ago PLUS an OC w/ a clue. It was really last week when he had no one healthy to pass to(outside of Hill who is really struggling) not to mention the OL and ground game are much better too.

I thought you always liked Schotty? Geno's weapons aren't as good as Braylons at this point in the season. Id take Cotch Keller and Braylon over anyone we have.

The ground game and O line is better now? We led the league in rushing in 09 with maybe the best O line we've had in the last decade. Especially in run blocking.

Careful, you are venturing into the hazy realm of Junc logic and you are likely to cause a prodigious amount of prestidigitation as Junc begins trying to glue together the Magna Carta and the Sear Roebuck 1897 catalog into a clear manifesto proving that once again he is right and you are wrong.

    Just watch.
