Other WC contender's schedules and how many losses they need to get for the jets to make the wild card at 9-7: BALTIMORE (currently 4-5) @ CHI VS NYJ VS PIT VS MIN @ DET VS NEP @ CIN losses needed: 2 including to the Jets OR 3 if they've beaten the jets. CLEVELAND (currently 4-5) @ CIN VS PIT VS JAX @ NEP VS CHI @ NYJ @ PIT loses needed: 2 including to the jets OR 3 if they've beaten the jets. MIAMI (currently 4-4) @TBB VS SDC VS CAR @ NYJ @ PIT VS NEP @ BUF VS NYJ losses needed: 3 including at least one to the jets OR 4 if they beat the jets twice. TENNESSEE (current record 4-5) VS IND @ OAK @ IND @ DEN VS ARI @ JAX VS HOU losses needed: 3 SAN DIEGO (current record 4-5) @MIA @KCC VS CIN VS NYG @ DEN VS OAK VS KCC loses needed: 3 in the AFC or 4 overall every team above has to win at least 5 times to keep up with a 9-7 jets team and even then there needs to be some tie-breaking advantages. Its entirely on the jets to get those 4 wins or more, they can run away with it if they manage any consistency at all.
Worry about our own team, first. I'm not sold we go 10-6, 9-7 or even 8-8. Yeah we got some good wins against some decent teams (Pats, Saints, Falcons etc) but we've lost to some teams we shouldn't have and got blown out a few times. JUST WIN.
Titans lost Locker for the season so thats a huge hit for them. I dont think the rest of there team is nearly good enough to have Ryan Fitzpatrick at QB and make the playoffs. I think if we can sweep the Dolphins we can make it. A lot can happen between now and then though, and the Dolphins arent a joke.
After looking at those scheds above and seeing those teams play live, I think our best competition is Miami
Cmon U cannot lack that much FB sense but then OTH maybe U do. All we have to do is beat Mia & Mia is no more right?
Now U see how easy that was? Both TN & SD lost yesterday so so long as the Bungles do not fall back any more we control our very own destiny which means it is up to RR & his staff & the NYJ players to insure we win until we clinch a PO spot

I cant see any of these 4-5 teams going 5-2 down the stretch. None of them are capable of it, they are 4-5 for a reason.
Honestly, the only one that has me worried is Baltimore. Locker is done, SD doesn't impress me, Browns no way. The one wildcard-no pun intended- is Miami. You figure they get a win tonite but that whole situation has to have some effect on them. I can't believe I'm saying this but I truly think we're making the playoffs  _
Agreed Baltimore scares me the most to. If we both win next week then we will head into week 12 with the wildcard on the line in there building. Thats a scary thought. Ravens play the Bears next week tho so there is a decent chance they lose and fall to 4-6 while we get to 6-4. Luckily though the Ravens close out the season with Detroit, New England and Cincy so they still have a lot of work to do.
Best option -- win the next two games...you can split with miami, lose to carlolina, that means the Browns and Raiders game are the ones you would like to win to go to 10-6 but can probably split as long as you beat the team with the better record.
I was rootin' hard for the Bungles comeback yesterday..... looked bright until that stupid 4th down call
We just can't lose more than 1 in conference game. We are I believe 2-4 in conference. 2-1 in the division. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
As a Jets fan living in NC, I never could have guessed that the Jets-Panthers game in December would be relevant for BOTH teams when I bought tickets in September!
If you want to get a really good feel for where the Jets are right now you need to look at where they have been and where they are likely to go in the last 7 games of the season. So far the Jets have been a bad team away from Met Life stadium. They've been a very good team at home. The key to their wildcard chances is how they perform in the 4 road games left on the schedule. This is what they've done on the road so far: Week 2 - tight loss to the Patriots 13-10. Week 4 - blowout loss to the Titans 38-13. Week 5 - tight win against the Falcons 30-28. Week 8 - blowout loss to the Bengals 49-9. This is what they have coming up now: Week 11 - at Buffalo. Week 12 - at Baltimore. Week 15 - at Carolina Week 17 - at Miami. If the Jets want to make the playoffs they need to win at least 2 of those games. They're not going 1-3 again and getting in because they're going to be capped at 9 wins at that point and somebody who has the tiebreaker against the Jets is likely to be there with them at 9 wins at the end of the season. Really they need to go 3-1 to make the playoffs. That gives them the leeway to lose a tight game at home if any of Oakland, Cleveland or Miami does an Any Given Sunday job on them in December.
