No way, man. Andrew Luck sucks. 0 talent. Id rather have Brandon Weeden.

Interesting thread topic and post. I've always professed that Smith and Sanchez were pretty much the same player. If you look at their first 4 years in the NFL, the numbers, which I posted in the past, support that. If not for the injury, I believe like Smith, year 5 was going "Mark" (pun intended) the start of Sanchez's turnaround. A turnaround that would be more attributable to MM, Lee and the more QB friendly WCO system than anything Mark could have done in the off season. I saw signs of it in the pre-season. I also believe Sanchez had (and still has under the right circumstances) the potential to ultimately be better than Smith. Sprinkled here in there in all the bad tape, Sanchez has flashed ability of more than just a game manager. Conversely, Smith didn't show that during his turnover-laden and bust-worthy early years.

Alex Smith is the ultimate game manager. He plays the position not to lose. When he plays for a team with a strong supporting cast- by that I mean run-oriented , strong OL, and strong defense -and excellent coaching- he can rack up regular season wins. But the other side of the coin is that he is extremely limited. He is not the type of QB that will make plays to win a game when the team needs that or to beat a good defense.

The 49ers were a perfect fit for him. But Harbaugh replaced him with a raw but more physically talented young QB because he realized that a QB like Smith can only take a team so far. In the QB driven, pass happy , parity filled NFL, championship teams need QBs who can win a game in the 4th quarter by making plays. Alex Smith is everything but that QB. You can take a QB with the physical tools and late game moxie and make him a game manager when a particular game calls for it, but you can't take a game manager and turn him into a player who can carry a team and make plays in he games where that is needed.

That is why, when you take the long view, like the Jets rightfully are doing, you go with the career potential of a Geno Smith over the short term benefits of an Alex Smith. The arguments in this thread over whether the Jets would have 6 or 7 wins with Alex Smith are irrelevant. It is not about this year. It is about the next ten years. Alex Smith is in his 9th year and he is what he is. I don't want that type of QB on the Jets. You can't win every game and you likely can't win championships running the ball and playing great defense and merely avoiding turnovers in the passing game.

Lol, the guy is the most weirdly delusional poster I think I've ever encountered.

    I don't understand his gig.

Can keep a team from losing but not too much for winning. Has been surrounded by talent wherever he has gone, although I realize KC has been bad.

Plus if we had signed him, the press would have had a field day with the three headed quarterback question in preseason training.

Nice write up Willie. But....running the ball and playing great D is what got Rex to within minutes of the SB 2 years in a row, including knocking high-flying Tom Brady and the Pats out of the ball park in 2010.

And it seems like the formula that's been handed to us this year.

    I like your write up....but I hope you're wrong!

Edit: In 2009 if we won the AFCCG, I believe we'd have our 2nd ring with that good running game and good D

we had much better weapons surrounding Suckchez. This NFL is much more QB oriented presently. I agree with J Willie. We need to throw the ball in conjunction with a great run game and great defense.

You are such a tool. Sanchez had better "weapons" in 2009-2010 and had much worse "weapons" in 2011-2012.

We were a playoff team in 2009-2010 and not a playoff team in 2011-2012.

    That's the truth.

But that was a curve ball. Try doing it every week and the box will be stacked and Geno will be forced to throw.

It is the truth. Playoffs Yes! But its about more then just reaching the playoffs! Ever hear about winning the SUPER BOWL? You mean your mommy never told you about the Super Bowl? I doubt in this day and age that just a run game and great defense will get a ring for us. But our run game is far from dominant though it was against NO.

Needless to say that SUCKCHEZ even in 2009 and 2010 won zilch! Please do not let your shorts get into a bunch!

    5-4 maybe 4-5 or 3-6

geno lost 3 or 4 games for us. he also won 3 or 4. alex smith isnt winning a game for you. and with the scrubs we have he likely isnt managing a game for us either

we are a really bad team. game manager isnt helping. we are lucky to be 5-4, we should be 3-6
