Mayoral election, comptroller, borough president, public advocate, and six propositions.

Most of the races probably won't be close, but it's worth it just to vote for props. They're fun.

Did it first thing in the morning.

And reminded others to go as well. Not shocked about those not knowing there was even an election. But it's times like these that are very important. Its not just the world and country that is f'd. Its local governments and the people within them.

I'm happy with the turn out that matter most to me.

From those i hear, no. Plans on over taxing the rich.

Anyway it was an important election in Rockland and Westchester. Westchester is over taxed and Rockland is in the shit.

Hopefully new leaders will right the ship.

NYC really needs to figure out how to cut back the graft because New Yorkers are already over-taxed as it is.

If the "taxing the rich more" is about loophole closing and catching people who pay very low taxes with very high income that's one thing but if it's about raising tax rates to extortionate levels, well that battle has already been fought and lost.

Fix the leakage. Jail the crooks. Stop the cronyism and corruption. If you do that you could actually lower taxes and still give people much better service than they are currently getting for their tax dollar.

Definitely not. Lhota wasn't a great alternative, though.

The taxes are insane in NYC.

As a citizen of NYC, I am probably fucked even more with taxes now. I agree...whenever its tax time and the question comes up if I am a resident of NYC....I know that my refund goes away

I'm thinking of hiring some kids to wash car windows on street corners. Anyone know if I need to provide medical insurance for them?

He might win the Presidency too.

If he was running as a Democrat.

Now that the Republicans aren't going to be shutting down government, the ACA may bring the Democratic party down. There is no quick fix for the cancellations of insurance that those in the individual market have experienced and the new policies are likely to be both more expensive and shut out access to doctors that many of these people rely on.

Democratic house and senate members in competitive races are very worried. You can go from King Kong to Zippy the Chimp in a matter of moments in today's world. Not focusing on the land mines in front of your feet is a good way to get blown up.

I don't think the debt ceiling fight to come is going to go all that smoothly. The Tea Party Republicans haven't shown any willingness to compromise for the good of the country or their party. I suspect we'll get up to the next deadline and they'll go kicking and screaming at the last minute, like usual, or even blow the thing up.
