I still think St Louis U and VCU will be those teams. I was shocked when Butler joined as they are non Catholic but that opens the door for VCU. Would be an awesome rivalry for GTown. Wichita State could be another potential candidate.
UNLV was picked 2nd in the conference behind New Mexico. We lost a lot from last season as Moser transfered, Bennett obviously now in the NBA as well and Savon Goodman left the program after having issues with John Law. We do however have Khem Birch for a full season and he looks unreal, fast, strong and ridiculously athletic. Throw in we get fromer All Amercan Jalen Kendrick and starter from UConn's title team Roscoe Smith eligible. Throw in we're waiting on the NCAA to decide on Kevin Olikebe's waiver request (he transfered to be home close to his father who suffered two massive strokes last spring) one would think it's a slam dunk they grant it but the NCAA is a freaking joke. Next season could be a huge year for us as we have a good class coming in already and are in the mix for Rashad Vaughn (apparently in his top 3)

where is Miano? http://www.lasvegassun.com/news/2013/nov/02/not-just-whistling-dixie-state-takes-down-unlv-exh/ what happened?
Just awful.... we have another tomorrow. 9 new faces and losing your #1 player 9 minutes into the game has an effect. Throw in a lot of guys who won't be getting minutes got minutes. We play Dixie every year. They are a well coached team and a really good small college team. They took us to the wire last year and into OT. BTW the NCAA granted Kevin Olekiebe's hardship waiver and he can play right away assuming the MWC grants it which seems to be a formalty as Fresno St (his previous team) has worked with UNLV to help him get this. His father is in a hospice after suffering two massive stokes. This kid can play and should really help the scoring, he's also a hometown kid.
In honor of the new Season, I thought I would post the ONLY Villanova movie clip the junc enjoys watching. Kudos for the music selection and the hilarious moment at 1:10.
Just saw that the NCAA's barred North Carolina basketball players Hairston & McDonald from playing in the team's opener citing eligibilty issues. Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't UNC the same school whose football team was slapped with a Bowl ban and 15--count 'em--15 scholarships in 2012 ??? Oh well, like football team, like basketball team....in Chapel Hill ...
I am going to make a bold prediction... we will lose our season opener tomorrow night to Portland State.
Watch out for Virginia this year to make some noise. Good coaching and depth, also expect a big year from Joe Harris.
The NCAA didn't ban them, UNC did as part of an ongoing investigation. Unfortunately the NCAA likes going after Carolina and PJ may get a year ban while Manziel gets a qtr ban for selling autographs, nothing happened to the duke player who got $150,000 in jewelry during their title run in 2010 and nothing happens to UK w/ all their cheating. I just don't get it.
The football team a few years ago losing a potential Nat'l Title team while teams have done worse and gotten off w/ less. They had all the evidence in the world on Cam Newton and Johnny Manziel and they did nothing. In CBB Lance Thomas gets $150k of jewelry his senior season and it is ok, it is a joke.
None there b/c they are a clean program. Clearly Hairston did some things wrong and should be punished, Roy was handling it and the NCAA now has to step in and it sounds like ban him for the year. when do they ban anyone for a year?
junc, read closely! Nobody said 'ban' -- I correctly stated that those *cough* student-athletes from that taxpayer-funded, gazillion-dollar budget state school were barred --repeat, barred-- from playing in their season opener vs. U. of Oakland, period. ;-) Would be a nice out-of-the-box win, real nice.....but logic's telling me they've a better chance of seeing god.....hope I brick that pick.
