This is what happens when you don't have any receivers to throw to. Geno leading the Jets to 5 wins is nothing short of amazing!!
You don't understand the rules, it's only unacceptable for Jets QBs to be inconsistent, even when that QB is a rookie.
Agree with the OP. It's so imperative to go out this off season and surround Geno with weapons. Having them early on in a QB's career can help make or break them.
it's not the lack of weapons, their weapons are still leaps and bounds betters than us. it's the pressure
It's far better than the dozens of posts in Smith threads that either show incredible impatience (expecting him to play like a top 5 QB right out of college) or those that predict he will fail. This thread makes the important point that many on this board don't understand - that its not only about the QB.
Luck is just NOT an accurate passer and will never be. His receivers have been making very tough catches for him since his rookie year(especially Wayne). And most of his yardage were compiled in garbage time and prevent defenses. Just like he is about to do right now. After starting 6-20 he's gonna start picking up a bunch of garbage time yardage to pad his stat. Watch!
Have your beast, I'd take my accurate, can read defense pussycat Geno any day. I hope you're watching the game I'm watching. The dude is atrocious.
Let's see how Luck does the rest of the season instead of judging the post Wayne era on one division game on the road. Or we can watch one game of Luck and define his whole career and future on it.
Even when he has time he doesn't throw it accurately. 66% of his attempt this season went to Wayne. For Luck, no Wayne, no completions. I've never seen a worse display in quarterbacking in the NFL. He'd have better if he had thrown 5 INTs slinging it. The Colts organization is in trouble.
Also I had to make this argument last year too, lack of talent can cause turnovers from the QB, but dumb decisions are made by the QB are not on lack of talent, they're on the QB. Geno throwing on a busted route to David Nelson falls on Geno for forcing to make a play in the RZ. A new WR running the wrong route, falls on the WR and lack of talent. Throwing into triple coverage is bad especially if the WR isn't talented! That's on the QB. Maybe the QB has to take a coverage sack because none of the no talent WR can get open, but not protecting the ball when trying to avoid sack and fumbling is still on him. Lack of talent doesn't cancel out bad decision making. A bad decision is a bad decision regardless of I'm running the route or Calvin Johnson is running the route.
Actually, if you look at his stats this year he's been pretty pedestrian. In fact, that's why the Colts traded for Richardson, it's to hide Luck's deficiency.
His INT % is down dramatically, he has less fumbles (on pace for less too) this season, his TD % is up, his Y/G is down, but his rating is up dramatically, he's rushed for more yards/attempt and is on pace for more/similar amount of rushing TDS last year. He has 0 games of 2 INT games this year when he had 5 last year. He's been playing well this year, just got lost in the outrageous play of Peyton Manning and his potential record setting year. Luck has played like an above average QB this year so far, and that in my terms puts him above pedestrian. Also maybe they traded for RB because their planned starting RB got hurt? You know to fill the RB hole  EDIT: That Colts team overall was a "lucky" team and outperformed their expected win total based on how the team played. Luck has improved because if he kept playing like last year, the wins wouldn't be as frequent as they are
Those are not the throws that make a QB. Hilton was wide open. The defenders were beat badly. All Luck had to do is throw it in the vicinity.
The way they talk about Luck I expect more than above average. I expect to see an accurate passer, can read defenses and make use of his weapons. Luck has the same fate as Schaub. Average doesn't cut it in Indy.
