Geno has had so many God damned turnovers I was shocked to learn just now that Atlanta was also a clean game with no turnovers. Even so, New Orleans was the superior opponent so this win counts more.
No way. That's ridiculous. You are so wrong. Atlanta: 16-20, 199 yds, 3 TD-0 INT, 21 yards rushing (plus a game winning drive) Saints: 8-19, 115 yds, 0 TD-0 INT, 18 yards rushing, 1 rushing TD The games aren't comparable. He didn't turn it over today. That was the best thing he did. He was VERY good in the Falcons game.
All he did? Don't you understand how important no turnovers is? The Chiefs have turned no turnovers into an 8-0 record. The didn't even score one touchdown on offense and they still won. Just because Atlanta is not as good as New Orleans does not mean that padding stats against them makes you great.
You said today was his best game. You did. I didn't. He didn't play bad today, but to say he played better than he did in Atlanta is just stupid. Are you seriously saying him not turning it over meant he played better than he did in Atlanta where he also didn't turn it over?
Also learn to read. I said it was the best thing he did, Not "all he did". You are wrong. He played fine and we won. He was MUCH better in the Falcons game. Just admit it.
No, the first thing I said is that no turnovers is the best. Therefore Atlanta and New Orleans were his best games. The reason you think that Geno played better against Atlanta than New Orleans is that you think putting up gaudy stats against Atlanta (sucky team) is better than having a good game against New Orleans (Superbowl contender).
So you really don't see that they won on good defense and a run game today, as opposed to Atlanta where Geno was the catalyst for the victory? Seriously? Just stop.
You mean the Atlanta game that we won by two points on a clutch field goal, ran for over 100 yards, and had a +1 turnover stat thanks to a fumble our defense recovered? Geno had a ton of help winning both games. Just because he looked better in the Atlanta game does not mean he played better. Today he helped his team beat a Rob Ryan coached defense.
The irony is that I said something good about Geno and someone wants to argue with me. Given my posts about Geno in recent history I would have thought that you guys would be doing backflips that I said something nice about him. Can't think about better proof about what a hostile mosh pit this place can be on game day.
I'm sorry. Rob Ryan has been an "elite" D coordinater since when? Since the Browns and Dallas both fired him after 2 years? Why is beating a Rob Ryan defense special? Because his name is Ryan? Please continue to display your football ignorance. PLEASE?????
Not arguing with you. Just man up and admit you are completely wrong thinking Geno's best game was today, or as you are showing more and more with each post, admit you are ignorant regarding football.
Your compliment was a backhanded one. Smith did what he had to do given the opponent, the game plan, the type of game, and the complete lack of weapons the Jets had today.
He took a defense that was statistically the WORST IN NFL HISTORY, and through 9 weeks, turned them into one that is top ten in the league. Those Cowboys and Browns teams both had solid defense's while he was there, almost definitely because of him, as evidenced by the fact that they both endured significant regressions after he left.
Not only did I say he had a good game but that I thought it was his best so far. How the hell is that a backhanded compliment. Some of you have your heads so far up Saint Geno's ass you don't see him for what he is, a rookle QB with a lot of potential that could go either way (good or bad). Today he had a good game and seems to be getting where he needs to be. Let's see if he can piece together two or three in a row before we anoint him our savior.
Geno missed on alot of throws today but didn't turn it over. Take something from the experience and move on
The real problem for the offense today was the same problem we have had most games and that was non-existent pass protection. It is hard to have worse pass protection than we had today. Almost every pass play an uncovered rusher was free to attack the QB. It was a case of having 1 second each play to make a decision and get rid of the ball. MM needs to find away to start picking up these blitzes. Not only is he going to get TOs because of it he is going to get Geno killed. I do like in the second half he switched to almost all runs. But the few passes we did throw still had the same problem of uncovered rushers having a free lane to the QB. If we are going to go anywhere this year we need to fix the pass protection.
Yet both teams fired him after 2 years. Couldn't have been that good, huh? And now, after taking the worst statistical defensive team of all time, reloading them, starting from scratch and making them decent AFTER 9 GAMES, he is an elite DC???? Give me a break.
