We need a vicious pass rush. The only thing I will say is, under Rex his best game might have actually been against the Saints in 2009 in the SuperDome against one of the greatest offenses in NFL history. 0 Passing TDs, 10 offensive points, Brees was held to 190 yards. http://espn.go.com/nfl/boxscore?gameId=291004018 Much different teams though so its hard to even compare.
Yeah the blitzing was clicking back then. Realistically the only way to stop Bree's is to keep him on the sideline and just outscore em. Brees is the best qb in the NFL, he will not be stopped, got to outshoot himl
As mentioned by a previous poster, we need torrential rains and strong gusty winds that day. That's the only way we slow them down. Brees is completing 67.5% of his passes, and we can't cover anyone. That adds up to one 3rd down conversion after another, all day long. I wouldn't even bother to dress a punter if I was them.
Wouldn't surprise me at all if we come out and score like we did in the Atlanta game and win this thing. You all seem to forget that this is the NFL and any team on any given Sunday can sneak up and win. We were predicted to get our asses kicked by Atlanta and we came out firing. I predict the same with the Saints. Brees will throw his TDs, but Rex will keep it manageable. Geno will have another great game and play like he did in Atlanta. Jets win this one. The damn Bills were in that game the entire first half, even with an incompetent QB who seemed to fumble every single snap. With a guy like Geno, or any other QB in the league, they could have won. I don't think the Saints are as good as people are making them out to be.
This is probably the biggest test for our inconsistent play. If we can bounce back and beat the Saints that will be impressive.
it would be perfect b/c we'd be 5-4 then have the bye which would be our loss week so then we'd be 6-4, 6-5, 7-5, 7-6, 8-6, 8-7, 9-7 thus guaranteeing a winning record.
stealing my idea eh? okay Junc, thats cool whatever... the best part is we'd be 5-1 in the AFC east, beating miami twice!
they couldn't do that with pittsburgh, and the raiders had no problem beating them at home yesterday. posters who have teams like raiders, cleveland, and carolina already in the win column may be shocked. heck, even the bills hung in at new orleans for 3 quarters yesterday. unless the saints have a letdown, this game looks like a loss. the saints ain't the falcons on either side of the ball.
Early line is at -4.5 for saints. The Jets must have the most pessimistic fan base in the world for most of the forum thinking we don't have any chance while we are only marginal dogs. I will be very surprised if the Jets are not in this for all 4 quarters. I expect Geno to bounce back strong, and see this game going down to the wire.
This is going to be as tough as it gets...On the other hand, I really dont mind attending this game as I Brees is my favorite QB in the league and the Saints are such a talented team on offense and now defense.
I'm a long time Saints fan, and I've always enjoyed having the Jets in N.O. I've always gotten along with them and have had a good time. The Saints O line has really had its problems this year with pass protection and the running game. If your front 7 is stout and can bring pressure, you make it lot more difficult for Brees. Our running game has been inconsistent (and that's being kind). I honestly expect a very tough game, and I'll enjoy watching Rob and Rex coach against each other. In the end, I think the Saints will have enough weapons to pull it out, but it's going to be close.
