You can't play this game though of "what ifs". You have to evaluate what IS, and proceed accordingly. Four years of excusing Mark was four years wasting time that should have been spent looking for a real solution.

Unless you have an elite run game AND defense AND are very very lucky, you will not even MAKE the AFCCG without great QB play. It is basically impossible to be consistently competitive, thus giving you a chance at a ring, unless you have an elite QB.

It makes ZERO SENSE to put all of your eggs in one basket when it comes to a QB who is the league's worst after 8 weeks. Im not saying cut the guy, I'm saying that the team should be pursuing additional options this offseason. The QB position is by far the most important one in any major sport, and yet our team drafts kids with huge red flags, and then instead of consistently leaving no stone unturned in attempt to find an elite QB, they waste years excusing bad ones.

I think Hill has made a lot of improvements from last season. His hands a lone are way better. I don't think he has a drop this season. They have left some big plays on the field with him because Smith has underthrown him a few times and over threw him another.

Hill has to be the deep threat weapon and they need to at least try once a game to get him he ball the way.

I know this has likely already been addressed, but by the time I got home it was already 14-0 so I said screw it and just installed the baseboards in my sons room rather than watch the game.

how bad were Geno's interceptions? I can't bring myself to watch the Bengals highlights, because they certainly aren't game highlights applicable to both teams.

The picks were during garbage time. The first pick was sort-of kerley's fault. Geno was anticipating kerley to cut right, and kerley didn't cut so it was straight into the defender's arms. The second pick Geno saw nelson open late, pacman caught on quickly and jumped the route to pick it off.

This post is completely wrong and is painful to read.

First off, QB's like Blaine Gabbert, Chad Henne, Weeden etc have a worse QBR than Geno. Geno is working with a worse supporting cast than any of those guys. Geno has also won more games for his team than those guys.

You're failure to see improvement makes me think you don't even bother watching the Jets. When was the last time Geno fumbled? Exactly, he fixed his fumbling issues. I won't even bother going into passing because I doubt you even notice his actual issues when/if you watch Geno play because of your obvious anti-Geno agenda.

That's even more BS. Defenses have evolved too. How many quality QBs are there in the NFL right now? It's not easy to play QB if only at most 20 guys are playing it well.

I can trust him because he's won games, and has been one of the best QBs at doing more with less. You may not like to hear it, but Geno's made this team better than it should be. That's why I'm a fan of him. As a GM, I don't know how Geno will turn out, but right now he's doing a hell of a job with what he has.

Anybody who thinks the Jets are putting all their eggs in one basket with Geno at this point doesn't understand what is happening this season. The Jets are evaluating Geno along with many other pieces on the offensive side of the ball. They'll figure out what to do about those pieces after the season is over, when they have enough film in the can to really begin to assess what happened this year.

You can't assess Geno properly based on 8 games where Vlad Ducasse was the LG in 4 and then rookie Brian Winters was the LG in the next 4. The next 8 games will tell us more.

Similarly, the Jets have started 5 different WR's this year. Jeremy Kerley, Santonio Holmes, Stephen Hill, Clyde Gates and David Nelson. There's no way to pick up the noise in that arrangement based on half a season.

It's unfortunate, because you'd really like to have some stability around a young QB as you are assessing him, but to date the Jets have not managed that feat. The second half of the season should be better in that regard.

Said like a true SUCKCHEZ fan boy. Id counter with we were picked to be 32 out of 32. many experts said we'd be lucky to win 3 games with our lack of offensive talent! So the kid comes in with little camp due to an injury and wins 4 games in thrilling fashion.

One thing I will say about Sanchez' fans they never stop trying to eliminate QB competition. If Sucky went 4 and 4 with this talent level his fans would be bragging as usual. Is the glass half full or half empty?

If Geno were on Sanchez's rookie team...

So, what we know about Geno so far is that, while he has accuracy, a great arm, and good legs, he's also highly prone to throwing INTs and getting sacked. Imagine if Geno is on the 2009 or even 2010 teams.

I'm imagining how Geno's playing with Jones or LT establishing the run; with Cotchery or Holmes/Edwards and prime Keller to throw to, with Rex's defense either of those years, with the all-pro O-Line playing the way they earned that prefix...

    It's nice to think about.

Under those conditions, Geno is an easy ROTY candidate. He'd still have all the same problems, but the team would mask them in a much better way.

Yes you are correct. But why try to be rational with Sanchez fans? They only want what they want! We also should mention that the OL has been hampered by a lack of consistency. Colon is new to the team. Howard has limited experience and as you said Winters/ Vlad at OG is frightening. Imagine Sanchez playing with that OL. It would be a built-in excuse! Then we have a rookie starting at FB along with receivers who were flipping burgers two weeks ago. Yet we hear alleged Jets fans crying about GENO. They forget conveniently that GENO has won 4 thrilling games with a rag-tag offense surrounding him. That is a case of him virtually carrying a heavy load and getting no credit from some alleged Jets fans. I dare say that improvement will show itself after the bye. LUCK sucked last year during the first half of the season. Then the light went on and he carried his team to the playoffs. he did have lots of talent surrounding him though.

OMG, the Jets lost a game to division leader on the road...... ALL HOPE IS LOST!!! FIRE EVERYBODY!!

completely forgotten is that the Jets and that same rookie QB defeated another division leader just one week ago...

Geno is a great athlete and possesses a powerful arm. Right now, he deals with having Jeremy Kerley as his best WR, Jeremy. Kerley. What every good team in the NFL has, that the Jets do not have, is a stud WR. Also, it's not his fault that he has a rookie LG, a LT who has been very disappointing this season IMO, and having arguably his most dynamic playmaker lost for the season due to injury (Goodson). Also doesn't help that Winslow got suspended. When he comes back, he'll be a welcome addition, because he's a pretty good TE.

But other than that, Geno is going through typical rookie growing pains. The NFL is a much more complex game than college football (which i'm not a big fan of because of which). Once he learns to use his feet more, and properly, which he will, because he is an excellent athlete, and also go through his progressions quicker, which he will because unlike Sanchez, he doesn't appear to stare down one receiver the entire time, we will see him come into his zone. Be patient, this kids going to be special one day. I firmly believe it.

I think hed be alot better. Sanchez threw for a measly 2400 yds in 09. That 09 run game would make for some juicy one on one matchups down field.

They are both turnover machines though.

You are right! But imagine Suckchez playing with the same team GENO is playing with. How pathetic would that be? But to his fan boys it would be a built-in excuse to stink up the field ala his buttfumble days! How did they forget last THANKSGIVING! What an embarrassment! I hope they follow him to Canada next year!

I am not scared to pass on the 2014 Qbs and give Geno a pass and get him weapons ( WR TE) and upgrade the defense (OLB, FS, SS). When you see guys like Jameis Winston you cant be afraid to pass on the 2014 Qbs just cuz its a great class. I trust Geno and by the end of his 2ยบ season we can get a better evaluation of his full potential.

err this season is not over! I expect geno will be a lot better after the bye. LUCK was that way last year too and he had a much better team then Geno has surrounding him. Lets see. There are 3 rookies starting on offense this year. Geno is throwing to a receiver who was flipping burgers two weeks ago and Geno made him look pretty good yesterday( 80 yards receiving). Geno was behind from the get-go. In the second half his team was way behind and we could not run. He had to throw. The CBs laid back and waited and they had a great pass rush aiding them. Yes! blame it all on GENO. I know. Suckchez would have won the game yesterday, right?
