Ok, over the last few years, more than ever, we've seen young QBs make an immediate impact, but sometimes these QBs have their downs, and the media and fans jump off the bandwagon as soon as they leaped on. Everybody was all over RGIII last year but now think he doesn't have much of a future after the injury. (Looked very good against the Bears last week) Everyone thought Luck was a scrub (despite not having much of anything and had a coach go down with cancer) but now he's great and the Colts are very good. And of course, the guy everybody is bipolar with, Cam Newton. Kept hearing how he was such a bust, especially in fantasy early last year and first few weeks. Of course, He now has 8 total TDs in his last 3 games with no picks and 70% completion. Of course, since the Giant game, he has 12 TDs and just 4 picks (3 in that loss in Arizona, a good defense), and the Panthers have won 4 of their last 5, and they should be 5-2 (could make an argument for them beating Seattle as well as Buffalo) There's still a lot of time before we know Geno is our QB of the future, especially since we all assumed that with Sanchez. However, we should be patient. He's already shown off a powerful arm (7.73), some mobility, and plenty of resiliency (four 4QC/GWDs), and his completion % could be a lot higher if not for plenty of drops in some games. The turnovers are very much a concern, but the kid almost beat NE twice and outgunned Matt Ryan in his own house where he never lost twice in a row. Can't help but be very happy. I really think he's gonna learn to keep the turnovers down and it'll make the Jets even more threatening.
I agree with the premise of your post...... I'd rather see Geno develop than the JETS make the playoffs this year. Although both would be ideal, this franchise (and fans / media) is always looking for a band-aid quick fix. *Although whoever thought Luck was a scrub, should go watch golf.
It's coming. I had a random dream last week that jets went to Superbowl. Woke up before I fount out who it was against Sent from my LG Optimus F3
My thinking is, maybe Geno is better than all of them. He is #1 target is Kerley. Yes, Kerley folks. His best TE is Cumberland with bipolar hand. Who is that other one who got suspended? Who cares! They're not playing anyway, either due to suspension or injury. If Geno wasn't as accurate as he is the Jets would be 1-6 as everyone predicted preseason. I watch every Jets game twice and say to myself that the Jets have no business being 4-3. If Brady were on this team, at best we'd be 2-5 because there were 3 specific games I remembered that were won on Geno's leg which Brady wouldn't be able to manage. The bucs game and the Patriot game and the falcons game. All those games Geno had key rushing TD to either keep the game close or take the lead. Before anyone say brady this, brady that, well check his stats and the many bad throws he made against the Jets.
Also keep in mind that RGIII, Kaepernick, and Wilson all had Top 4 rushing attacks and defenses last year and them and Luck and Newton have very good receivers. Geno has a dominate defense but nothing else
The point of this thread is good, but it doesn't work in today's society. People want things NOW. Geno has done well, coming off a Patriots victory, so he is liked by the fanbase. If the Jets go on a losing streak and he is throwing game-losing interceptions, people will jump off. Just how fans are these days. There is no patience.
Are you Geno's Mom? He's better than Luck, Wilson, RG3, Cam? We'd be WORSE off-- 2-5 if we had Brady? Really? Your posts have gone from extreme-homer Geno ball washer to patently ridiculous. I think we all like Geno and think he could be our franchise guy, time will tell over the next 2 months, but you've already got him pegged as having the strongest and most accurate arm in the league with 4.5 speed AND that nobody compares to him. Ridiculous. _
If we were willing to suffer through 4 years of Muck Sanchez before ditching him, the least we can do is give Geno a couple of years without tearing him down.
Some good points. The fact you put the word Scrub and Luck in the same sentence. What day did someone label him a scrub. He was leading comebacks from day one and orchestrating a downfield passing game that would may Air Coryell happy. Luck = Scrub. NOT!!!
I think the only reason people are jittery with Geno is because Sanchez was such a led down. Here you had a quarterback, a USC quarterback I might add, who was supposed to best since Namath. Four years of waiting will make anyone jittery. Now you're going through the same process with another highly regarded prospect. One I might add that looks a little more grounded and focused than the other one. And won't be on any magazine covers anytime soon or banging Kate Upton. I have a feeling we will be pleasantly surprised this time.
geno has made some throws i've never seen a jet quarterback make. those hard sideline outs. those are difficult to get right. dude just has a great arm. i hope he can stay healthy.
My thinking is you smoked green laced crack that was made in West Virginia. So far he's looked good at times and bad at times. He hasn't played badly enough to prove he isn't the guy yet which is good. But at this point he hasn't shown he's better than ANY of those guys. He may be, but hasn't shown that yet.
Honestly, I kept hearing how he was so unimpressive early last year (who the hell is?), and Bristol's resident troll Skip Bayless kept ranting how they should have kept Manning and/or picked RGIII. Luck was going to take the longest to develop, but is probably gonna be the best out of all of them, if he isn't already
Luck was overhyped and isn't great. He's good, but he's not a top 5 QB and he's certainly not the second coming of Manning like everyone makes him out to be.
