What with the Love affaire with Marcus Mariota? Oregon QB usually suck ie Joey Harrington and Kellen Clemens
At this point, there are 4 guys that have peaked my interest. Watkins, love his hands and speed also very good returner. Mike Evans had been tremendous. He's a hands catcher and catches the ball while covered. Lee has been hurt but is a home run hitter. Also Ebron will be a mismatch for any safety or LB. 7 months to the draft and much will change,
Have you seen him play? He is nothing like JH or KC--assuming somebody isn't good because what players at those schools did before them is just silly. You know Dan Fouts went to Oregon, right? Silly criteria for grading a player. He might edge out Teddy for the top QB picked. _
the way he plays what happens when he scrambles the line of scrimage and Patrick Willis tears that skinny frame apart. ( example).
He's 6-4 and 212 at 19 years old with the frame to put on 20 lbs easily. He'll be basically the same size as Kapernick by the time he gets to the NFL. Got no problem with that. Hey, if Manziel can play in the NFL at his size as a dual threat guy (and I have no doubt he will), and with the success Kap has had as a dual threat, I have no issues with Mariota's frame right now. _
I just think guys like Teddy or Zach or Aaron murray are less injury prone then manziel, mariota. PS: I do not like Kaep and i said before season start Alex Smith is a better Qb then Kaep. Russel Wilson and Luck on the other hand are the real deal.
I just think Mariota is going to be the ultimate prototypical sized/talented QB for the NFL going forward. He's going to eventually play at 6-4 plus and about 235, can run if needed for long long runs but is a great passer. I concur on Kaep--he has the weirdest throwing motion--his delivery is very strange to me--almost like Rivers. Going to be some really good ones available next year. LOVE Teddy and notwithstanding what everyone else thinks about AJ being a game manager--I think he's going to be very much like Matt Ryan. And again, I've never seen Hundley play other than in some clips, but apparently he's the real deal. And the kid from FSU as a true freshman folks are saying he's the best of the bunch. _
Hundley has had a very up and down year. I dont really buy into him yet and I think he's got a good deal to work on. Jameis Winston looks phenomenal, but he has only played a half a season. A lot of things can happen in the next year and a half. (and he's a redshirt freshman btw, sat behind Manuel last year)
I cannot believe Mariota is going to come out after his sophomore season. He's only started at QB for 3 seasons in his life. If he does come out I can't believe anybody is going to take him in the top 10. Anybody who does take him in the top 10 should expect to be fired if the pick busts because that's where I think he is headed if he hits the NFL at age 20 with 2 college seasons and 1 high school season as his QB education.
BTW, it is insane the number of sophomore QB's on that list. Has the NFL suddenly gotten stupid or is the hype just that? I don't believe there has ever been a sophomore QB taken in the 1st round of the NFL draft but the big board says at least 3 of them are in the top 24 next year. C'mon man...
He has all of the tools to succeed and teams will love his physical abilities. I mean, watching him play, you can't NOT like him. He may be raw but teams will look at recent rookie QB success and think he can follow. Id personally love to see him reunite with Chip Kelly with the Eagles.
Talk about a perfect fit for a system....but I get the feeling the Eagles will pass on him in favor of a defensive player.
I think it has to do with the fact that players come into the league now more ready and better prepared than in the past. They're getting better coaching at pre-college levels and better preparation for the modern game while in college. I think eventually the league is going to have to lower it's age requirement.
I heard the hype about him then I decided to youtube him. Boy, was I disappointed. Most of his throws are 5 yards slants and he throws mostly off his back foot. I couldn't bare watching the rest of the clip. I think those GMs who are supposedly high on him are probably trying to take away attention from Bridgewater so they can come in scoop him. I will tell you this. There is no way Mariota ends up being picked in the 1st round after the combine process.
Also, the reason Mariota is getting those hypes is because the UCLA head coach Jim Mora whom he is about to face this weekend said Mariota would tear up the NFL to play with his psyche a little. So the media pounce all over that.
I believe he'll come out and if any team in the top 10 that needs a QB doesn't take him those GMs should be fired. He's going to be the real deal IMHO. _
