I have read ad nauseum how fucking awful Sanchez was in 2010 when we went fucking 11-5 and fucking beat the fucking Colts AT the Colts and we fucking beat the fucking Pats AT the fucking Pats and should have fucking beat the fucking Steelers but because Sanchez was just a fucking passenger that whole year and didn't complete ONE good pass all year and didn't make ONE good play all year and threw the most dropped INTs in recorded fake history and had the most non-fumbles that weren't fumbles in recorded history, and he's clearly the worst QB of all time, just want to make sure that the dick that chronicles just how fucking awful Sanchez was in 2010 (you know, the most exciting season Jets fans have had in a decade) that he uses the same criteria when lauding the next franchise Jet QB.

    Just to be consistent.

PUT DOWN THE COFFEE! Dude, lighten up. I was simply trying to clarify a point. As I mentioned in my post, I supported MS until the midpoint of last season. I think he played a role in our success, but I also think he played a larger role in our decline. Hence, my supporting him through the midpoint of last season. Anyway, there's really no need for our discussing MS. There are plenty of other threads for that. Again, I was clarifying a point and explaining the stat in question.

btw, your rant brought a lot of value to the board. Keep up the good work!

Did they give Geno the fumble on the handoff or did the give it to Ivory?

I don't think you can fault Geno on the hatchet fumble by Chandler Jones-that happens to every QB but the fumble when he jumped over the pile he needs to keep both hands on the ball.

All in all a great game.

The Y/A, and overall yards is good to see. The Jets are letting Geno be the major offensive driving point for better or for worse.

The fumbles and INTs are concerning obviously.

Yes to both points. Geno is getting better, much better, but he is not there yet.

He had 1 turnover today and the Jets won. I'll take it. The TO was a bad one but it was matched by another bad TO by Brady and so the Jets won.

I believe the question with Geno at this point is not whether he's going to be good or bad. The question is whether he's going to be good or average. He's already established a potential ceiling above what we've had recently.

Geno has been getting a bit better each week.

He's gone from throwing 3 4th qtr pics in our first NE contest (a loss) to throwing no 2nd half pics plus making game winning drives in regulation and again in OT for the win in our rematch game.

Yes, there are other circumstances one can point to, but it seems like improvement to me.

Off topic....to those TGG posters who already want to draft another QB due to the ultimate importance of having a superstar QB in order to win games, Geno has better stats than Brady both today and after 7 games. Just saying.

I'm enthused by how well he's been doing with his current stash of weapons. Sure, it would be nice if he could close up the TD:INT ratio, but I have to say that if he gets stronger receivers next season, it's going to be really fun to watch him sling the rock around.

Bump for a good thread. The numbers are good analysis for the Geno Smith thread. Could easily be stickied.

I know it's a lot to ask, but the data are a lot easier to read the chart in the format used by Tom in this post.

Throwing lasers on 3rd and 20 past the first down marker....when's the last time we could say that?

Maybe there's a chance he finishes the season with 60% completion and a 1TD to 1INT ratio after all

Just a guess but I think 60% and 1 to 1 is more than likely at this point.

    TD to Int by game:

    1-1
    0-3
    2-2
    1-2
    3-0
    0-2
    1-1

It's hard to see in the overall pattern but Geno's overall decision making and effectiveness has increased over the last 7 weeks.

Int % by game/cumulative for the season:

    2.6%/2.6%
    8.6%/5.5%
    6.9%/5.9%
    5.9%/5.9%
    0.0%/5.1%
    5.9%/5.3%
    3.0%/4.9%

He seems to be getting his feet on the ground at this point. The schedule lightens up a bit after the bye and I'm guessing Geno goes clearly positive at that point.

If the offensive line can keep him in a clean pocket against teams with healthy/above average D Lines (big thing to watch against the Bengals), the turnovers could come down.

Hopefully, his decision making and situational awareness improve so he doesn't give it away he's not under any particular duress. Those are the killers.

Thankfully he has the ability to put the bonehead plays in the rear view and keep chugging. Otherwise, our record would not be on the positive half of .500, to say the least.

From watching the Jets and Geno through the first 7 games, a clean pocket seems to be the biggest factor in Geno having a good game (as it does most QBs). Geno was actually stepping up in the pocket against the Pats, like on his TD pass to Kerely.

While a TE might be a QB's 'good' friend, a solid O-Line is a QB's BEST friend. You know what they say.....A good friend will bail out out of jail, but your best friend will be sitting right next to you saying "Holy shit that was fun!!!".

+1. This is good stuff! Also, thanks Bradway for putting up the INT percentage info, too, as it shows progression.
