It helps, but the strength of their defense is that front 7. If they can get pressure, it could be a long day for Geno.
The Bengals front 7 is slightly better than ours although our front 4 has an edge over theirs, especially when you throw in our rotational players. Our offense is going to struggle and that's where the margin of victory will come into play for the Bengals. MM needs to attack the corners early and often if the Jets are going to have a chance.
I dont like this matchup either but if the Jets can take out two 1st place teams back to back weeks it will show that this team is capable of just about anything in this league.
No running attack scares me and I'm confident the Bengals won't run consistently. Bernard may wiggle out a few yards here and there from time to time but it's gonna come down to taking away their two TE's and Green on the outside. Take away Grisham and Eifert in the middle with the safeties. Trust Cro by telling him to bend but don't break and take away the deep ball and trust your pass rush to harass Dalton who is not that mobile. Offensively, MM needs to have Geno get the ball out quicker. Their LB's are physical run stuffers but are slow. Cumberland could be a mismatch on Burfict and Malalauga who is playing hurt. The downfield shots need to be off play action to slow their pass rush a bit. Between the tackles iit's gonna be gonna be tough to run on them. Hopefully, Cribbs can keep a couple drives alive by getting outside a bit for some running room when they go wildcat.
The Jets have minimal play action going at this point because they are using Geno mostly out of the shotgun and that cuts down on the opportunities. They do run a few play action fakes every game when they roll Geno out to the right. Maybe 2 or 3 times a game.
wheres your fightin spirit? the jets can beat anyone in this league with that defense. it all hinges on the offense like it always has only this year we have a guy calling the shots that actually knows what hes doing. the jets just made brady look like a bitch but andy dalton and the bengals scares you? the bills almost beat them dude. jets can and should win this game. geno needs to start stringing good performances together. im not expecting mistake free play but it cant last a whole game like it seems to have a couple games already this season
They held Brady to 6 points. Only scored 13 on NE defense. Win the turnover battle. We win. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free
yeh geno still needs work taking snaps from under center. but hes definitely getting better with his decision making. and hes got a nice arm so you know.
The Bengals have successfully defeated the Steelers, Packers and Patriots at home and are currently 3-0 there. This will be hands down the hardest road game we play all season. I hope we win, perhaps our close game success continues. Jets win 20-17. For whatever reason Rex does seem to have the coaching edge over Marvin Lewis similar to how Mike Tomlin seems to have an edge over Rex. I still have much respect for the Bengals, I penciled them into the AFC Championship game and I still think they get there but Sunday we win.
This has all the makings of an ugly, low scoring football game. TOs will ultimately decide who wins IMO. AJ Green, Bernard, and Eifert/Gresham are going to cause us some matchup problems on D, so we will have to put consistent pressure on Dalton and try to mix up our coverages. On O, it's going to be MUCH harder to run the football. Geno and Hill are going to have to step up.
Oh, and we've followed up every win this season with a loss. It's going to be a challenge to break that trend.
It's a tough game, no doubt. The Bengals are the better team overall, IMO. I agree that this game reminds me of going to Tennessee a couple weeks ago, same kind of feel. The other part of me thinks the Bengals could be ripe for the picking too. Wouldn't be comfortable picking ATS that's for sure.
We are not part of the Jets Flight Crew so I'm not sure why we need to show "spirit". We are fans who are dissecting the strengths and weaknesses of the Jets and their opponents and trying to figure out where they might succeed and/or struggle. I don't think anyone here is saying they are "scared" of Andy Dalton and the Bengals offense. Most people are pointing out that Cincy has a stout defense that can cause the OL some problems and in turn may create some turnovers from Geno.
Yeah, so was Anthony Becht, if he held onto the ball. And Kyle Brady, if he held onto the ball. And Fred Baxter, if he held onto the ball....
Cumberland had a bad game, he will be fine but he is better when Winslow is on the field and our O is better when Winslow is on the field.
Their front 7 is better in name recognition only. The statistics tell a different story. Rushing Yards per Game Jets 77.7 (#2) > Bengals 97.9 (#8) Rushing Yards per Attempts Jets 3.1 (#1) > Bengals 3.8 (#13) Sacks Jets 24 (#3) > Bengals 18 (#16) 1st Downs per Game Jets 17 (#4) > Bengals 19 (#11) 3rd Down % Jets 34 (#4) > Bengals 42 (#26) Passing Yards per Game Jets 224.9 (#10) > Bengals 236.4 (#13) Passing Yards per Attempts Jets 6.4 (#3) > Bengals 6.5 (#5)
