Whether we use him as a bellcow of change of pace back, he is valuable. We're definitely going to need him late in the season. According to PFF, Jets RB Chris Ivory picked up 64 of his 104 yards after contact, meaning he found only 40 yards before contact on 34 carries. This kinda tells you that the Jets run blocking was poor yesterday and how much Ivory had to work for his yards. His performance was impressive. It sucks Goodson got hurt cause they could have been our version of thunder and lightning. Ivory would punish them and Goodson can come in to run past a bruised up D.
I've been somewhat concerned that Powell is not looking as sharp as he did early in the season. You have to wonder how much load Ivory can carry over the space of several games. He was a huge part of the win against NE, so right now he needs to stay healthy.
If Ivory continues to stay healthy and produce, he will start over Powell in my opinion (under the assumption Powell right now is healthy which idk). I love Powell as a runner, as a football player, everything. But I see him as an excellent 2nd back, not one you can give the ball 30 times to. Powell in on 3rd down, screen-game he's your man. Plus Powell destroyed the Bills, and the Jets EVERY year seem to have someone that runs wild on the Bills D. How much stock do we put in that game?
