Whether you like it or not has a lot of implications. If the NFL thought it could get away with eliminating all celebrations, it would've done so already. That being said, I think Logan Ryan will be fined for the crotch grabbing.
What I take from your point is that TO's height of classless dooshbaggery could never be topped by an even more egregiously dooshbagged classless act so why even try? Got it. Btw, that's what I thought you meant, just wanted to see if you would expound upon it further. Your appreciation of dooshbaggery is duly noted  _
First off, you don't know whether he had cell phones under both goal posts, and whether he had them there for the 2-3 prior games that he had not scored. We don't know the depths of his dooshbaggery look-at-me-ploy. Second, you seem to think there needs to be a rule against dooshbaggery or otherwise it's perfectly fine. Got it. Hey, is that JR Smith in you avatar? Now I really got it  _
Apologies, I'm used to websites that block words like shit, piss, fuck, cunt, cocksucker, mother fucker and tits. Credit to George Carlin. _
I love hotdogging. I especially loved it in the playoff game against the Pats a couple of seasons ago when Shonn Greene turned out the lights and went to sleep on the Pats. EPIC!!
Nahh you misread me. I'm saying if the NFL doesn't want it in the game, they can make a rule to stop it. They've already made rules like this to curb it down. Clearly for whatever reason, the NFL doesn't have a problem with some of it like taunting as you dive into the EZ, first down celebrations, sack celebrations, etc. I think they've chosen interesting things to ban in celebrations and interesting things to keep, it's not consistent really
I didn't misread you, there are basic tenants of civil behavior- I don't care whether the NFL has rules to penalize or stop such behavior or not. Clearly they don't care. That's irrelevant. I am, on the other hand, apparently a grumpy old white guy who doesn't understand the awesomeness of how awesome it is to taunt and/or be disrespectful to an opponent on a field of play because its not illegal. Fuck yeah. I guess. _
Nahh I'm pretty sure you misread me  I said if the NFL doesn't like it, they can stop it. In the same post I said I don't mind the NFL ruling out what DeSean and Logan Ryan did. But for some reason they think that's okay but you can't take a pylon and pretend to putt the football like golf.
Civilized people don't need rules to act civilized. You either have it or you do not. You continue to confuse rules and penalties with acting civilly. It's a discussion on a different plane. Fuck yeah. I guess. _
That's my point though, the NFL can stop this and have stopped other celebratory tactics before. Why they let one form go and another stay makes no sense to me. I hope you mean civilized within the game, and not overall as their person on and off the field...
You are missing the point. Whatever isn't penalized or legislated against is perfectly fine, right? Fuck yeah. _
I love elaborate celebrations. They're not as good as they were say 6-7 years ago. I loved all of Chad Johnsons ridiculous celebrations. Looked forward to seeing him score on SportsCenter highlights. I can completely understand people not liking it but lol at the guys making this into some kinda moral issue with the fiber of our country. Not that serious
I'm not saying athletes should taunt. I find it stupid for anyone to taunt, and whenever I see one of our (by our I mean the Jets) players taunt, I get pissed. That being said, we should NEVER get angry at opposing players for celebrating- we should be angry at our defense/offense for letting them score.
I am going to put on my historian's cap here and say that you are completely wrong. If you were correct we would have no discussions of ethics, etiquette, and laws. From the very beginning of human civilization we have instituted rules to regulate the behaviors of the group. The ONLY reason for ANY rule to exist is because someone has violated it in the past and the social order felt a need to codify (orally or written) that that behavior was unacceptable to the group. "And the Lord saith, 'stop piddling on my new flowers or I'm gonna give you weiner leprosy'. And all mankind held their junk in fear for this is the Lord.... But ya gotta go somewhere."
Celebrating a score is fine. Grabbing your crotch and taunting the opponent when you claim to be a classy organization is kind of hypocritical. I do get very angry when a player celebrates a sack or catch when they are losing by a lot. Do your job and quit celebrating. Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk 2
