If Holmes is scheduled to come back then it doesn't make any sense to trade him as we could use all the receiving help we can to make a playoff push.
The colts have already given up next years 1st round, 4th round and 7th round picks. They're in a tough spot trying to convince any team to take a 5th round pick for a WR1. A 3rd rounder might be too much depending on who they're targeting. There isn't much on practice squads either.. Hello TO? Braylon?
Oh yeah and that also. Let's replace Reggie Wayne who has played in 189 consecutive games with a guy who has only played in 4 this season
It's a great idea but Holmes is injured plus he's making around 10 mil for the season. Way too much for a player of his talent level. Plus not a great team player. They won't do it unless the Jets would eat some of that salary. Plus the Jets would get ripped for trading their best Wr when the team is still in contention for the playoffs.
this isnt baseball with buyers and sellers half way through the season. picks are valuable and adding players mid season isn' instant return. please, these trade threads are getting nuts
I think we take a huge salary cap hit if we trade him now and we couldn't afford to pay it. He isn't going anywhere.
I do expect them to make a trade to acquire a receiver. I don't know how much interest they would have in Holmes though. There are other guys who are rumored to be available who would probably interest them more. To be honest, I don't know if we should trade Holmes now. We kind of need him if we want to make a push for the playoffs this year. He is a headcase and he'll be gone after this year but he is the best receiver we have. Kerley is a very good slot player, Hill is still developing, and as good as Nelson played yesterday he is still a journeyman. Holmes coming back motivated and ready to play would be a huge boost for this team down the stretch.
no way id trade holmes we need all the recievers we can get and we should probably be looking to make a trade ourselves for a reciever
