We'd be giving up a late round pick for a potential solid WR. Not to mention he has chemistry through college with Smith. It becomes a safety blanket for a rookie QB.
The chances of a late 4th or 5th round pick panning out are slim to none. Why not give one away when we have a plethora of picks, for a guy who could potentially be really good under Geno? That's part of rebuilding. Signing guys and making trades for unproven players. Rebuilding isn't only about the draft.
Didn't they just sign David Nelson? A young receiver who's only in his 3rd season and was productive until he got hurt last year? Didn't Nelson step up yesterday? We have Kerley and Hill plus Nelson and Holmes. We're gonna have to live or die with what we have until next year. A 5th rounder can get us a solid rotation player at a position of need. You say these late round picks may not pan out which is true. But in the last 3 drafts we're able to find guys in the 5-7 range that have been contributors. I say let Idzik build the team the right way. No need to make knee jerk reaction moves.
That wasn't my point. The point was that a late round pick would be less likely to pan out then a guy like this, who has a history with Geno already.
Don't need him, btw what has he done?? Got nelson kerkey hill(who sucks) an Holmes, give the WR thing a rest
I agree, but we desperately need depth at WR. You keep mentioning Holmes, but what has he done for us this season? One good game? He has a nagging foot injury and now a hamstring injury and is in a contract year. Do you really think we will extend his contract after this year? We need all the depth we can get at WR and a guy like Bailey seems to fit the bill. History with Smith and a solid option to have on your depth chart. Young and talented like Idzik has been preaching. We are going to have a TON of picks and money next off-season. We have to use it somewhere.
A history in College, this is the pro's now and Stedman hasn't done shit to make me think he will still be in the league in 2 years.
Again with the mention of Holmes. I think the guy is very good, but he has done NOTHING for us this season. Why is he being mentioned in our WR rotation? I don't get it.
How the hell do you think talent is evaluated during a draft LOL Every player drafted is evaluated by his work in college. When a guy has a great career in college, he is drafted in the draft. Obviously you can't judge a guy by his NFL experience when he has none LOL
Glad someone gets it. I was just surprised to see someone suggesting we trade Simms when he has little trade value and is probably worth more to us than to some other team that does not know much about him (also he would have to learn a whole new offense somewhere else).
every single player on our team? our entire crop of skill players are awful. he could find reps somewhere
I kinda figured you were kidding at first, but then realized the people on this forum have made CRAZY accusations like that, so I questioned it HAHA
Your judging chemistry is college, Thats what I referred to not his production. By the way you said Holmes has done nothing for us? I will stop argueing with you now because that statement alone says you dont know what your talking about. We lose against Buffalo without him. Edit: meant Buffalo.
He has played 4 games out of 7 with 10 receptions for 243 yards and 1 TD. Being a #1 receiver on a team, that's productive to you? LOL Just to give you an idea: Stephen Hill has played all 7 with 19 receptions for 317 yards and 1 TD. Jeremy Kerley has played 6 with 24 receptions for 319 yards and 2 TD's. Enlighten me, how has Holmes been helpful as our number 1 receiver? He has been injured for three games and is still questionable to return next week. He's been a HUGE help, let me tell you
Thats 243 yards more than Stedman has lol, he is coming off an extremely severe foot injury and i told you how hes been helpful, we lose against Buffalo without him.
