And for the prices they are charging, fans should be able to bring their kids and grandkids to an event that is free of this kind of public drunkeness and violence. The Stadium needs to clamp down on this NOW... TODAY. All of them throwing punches need to be identified and charged with drunk and disorderly conduct and probably assault and battery thrown in, the girls included. Put it on their police record.
not condoning punching women but this crap happens every Thursday, Sunday and Monday in 16 different NFL venues every week Excessive alcohol consumption on both sides fueling anger and violence.
Maybe they can institute a zero tolerance policy for verbal harassment. If security was vigilant about stopping verbal harassment, then there would be far fewer fights that they would have to break up.
This is an interesting question. We generally don't allow underage children into bars and stadiums today are essentially open bars with a playing field. Maybe there should be a compromise. If Stadiums want to serve alcohol they can't allow anyone underage into the building.
I agree w/ you. I agree but the issue yesterday I think happened after the game when the fans are herder like cattle out of that monstrosity of a Stadium. That's a great way to turn away future paying customers. Great short term possibility but long term wouldn't work.
I'd hit that blonde ........... doggie-style. You lay women, you never lay your hands on a woman, ever. Looking at the 80's M.C. Hammer/Guido pantaloons that dirtbag was wearing, it's not surprising. And the modern-day rationalizing this man-punching-woman violence is e'ffin astounding (and depressing). I mean, back in the 50's you never heard about a woman getting "hit in the face" ..... well, besides Rock Hudson....
just watched the video looks to me like Blondie and her other Patfan girlfriend were doing all of the aggressive acts prior to the punch while Chrebet was trying to just get away from the two drunken chowd pigs. Yes, he shouldn't have punched her, but if I'm his lawyer, he clearly gets acquitted by pleading self defense
If opposing fans continue this BS and stadiums just don't want the outlay of employing an adequate amount of stewards, then segregation is the only way. Coming from a country where this is already in place, there are times when I envy the USA because you can integrate and have a good craic . But the flip side is that there are stadiums (away) where I would cover up my colours to and from the ground, not drink at all and am grateful for the segregation because the opportunity for violence is a heartbeat away. These games often have, NO children and NO women.... how sad and pathetic is that? If you guys in the US continue to advocate the use of violence this is what may happen to your game . Honestly, you don't know how lucky you are.
Oh, I have plenty of respect for women ask my girlfriend of 5 years. I never hit one in my life. That being said she was punching a man in the face, the man has every right in the world to protect himself and to get her to stop. He took a half swing at her and knowing she would get killed by the man in a physical confrontation she stopped. Mission accomplished. Stop being a white knight for an obviously stupid bitch who hit a man because she believes she wouldn't get hit back. It works both ways. You respect a woman who respects you.
I'm not commenting specifically on this situation, as I have no idea how it went down. So I'm not going to defend that guy what so ever. All I'm saying is that I don't necessarily agree with the notion that men shouldn't hit women under ANY circumstance. I think that's becoming outdated a little. I definitely think hitting a woman should remain mostly taboo, but more and more women are taking advantage of that in modern society. -I remember wearing my Jets gear in Buffalo for a game about 5 years ago or so. I try to mind my manners in opposing stadiums and not be a d-bag. I respect the home team. I got my fair share of razzing from men all game and that's fine. The worst situation came from a woman. I'm just in line to take a piss and this grizzly bear of a woman (typical Buffalo woman) gets right in my face, invading the personal space you should give to people, cursing at me, spit flying out of her mouth at me, pushing me, etc. No MAN would ever do that to another MAN without expecting some physical retribution in return and thus I don't think it happens. But this woman (who was bigger than me) knew I "couldn't" hit her, because it's taboo, and took advantage of that. How in the hell is that fair??? If I decked her in my threatened state, I'd been the one arrested. I'd had the book thrown at me in court and suppose someone caught a 30 sec video of me hitting her and posted it online - I'd been vilified by millions. I'm not so sure any of that is just. Again, I'm not saying that was the case in this scenario - I'm just saying situations where women push the boundary of the unwritten rule happen quite frequently...
I definitely agree that you should be able to defend yourself, and you easily can do that against a woman thats most likely weaker than you by just pushing her away or restraining her, not winding up and hitting her in the face
It's everywhere. I went to a Monday night game in NE a couple of years ago. Sat in very good seats with mostly older season ticket holders and families. Great conversation everyone was pretty cool. Some went out of there way to make me and my friend feel welcome. Coming into the stadium and in the main areas away from the seats there were marauding drunk thugs looking to start fights with opposing Jets fans. It was awful and I'm not intimidated by individual thugs but in these large groups it can turn ugly fast. This is pervasive in sports today. The players taunt each other the fans taunt each other, drunken behavior and violence seems to be way more tolerated than it should be. This is all basic stuff. Sportsmanship and treating a guest well should all be a given. Since when should someone wearing the colors of their sports team be equivalent to a Blood going into a Crips neighborhood? These are paying guest not someone invading your personal turf.
It's clear she was attacking him. I see no problem with defending himself. And it's not like he got excessive and was kicking her on the ground or anything crazy. Banning alcohol at games is not the solution. Sales will go down. I read a story the other day about not wanting alcohol at games but the author who was all for banning sales of alcohol at games pointed out that stadiums that have alcohol free zones do worse. I know there already is a limit of two beers per person per serving to limit excessive drinking. But they should knock it down to one beer per person per serving. It'll slow down drinking but no one will stop going to games because of it.
