Clearly, see Brady "extend" his leg, "full extension" of the leg. I think if you show that video to young football fans, that have never seen it, they will all say it's a fumble, and be surprised to find out its really a "well" called "tuck rule" :up:
Finally a PATS fan who can pull his head out his hind parts and see that had the Pats actually come to play, that call would be a non factor. Many Pats fans are overlooking the obvious. 1. you can't be 1 of 12 on 3rd down conversions 2. give up 177 rushing yards (albeit at just over 3 yds per carry) 3. have the ball 23 minutes compared to your opponents 46 minutes 4. give up 4 sacks 5. have 7 penalties for 100 yards 6. have your starting QB complete less than 50% of his passes, throw his own pick 6 and NO TDs and think you're going to win a game. Geno doesn't throw a pick 6 of his own and Quigley doesn't make a couple of crappy punts and this game isn't even close. That call was the correct call, however, the game was decided long before the ref made that call. Geno was able to move the ball at will on the Pats and even when at one point he showed his rookie ways, he and Ivory were able to do whatever they wanted to to the Patriots at key points in the game. So get over it. Everything can't always go the Patriots way.ats_suck:
You know, I'd be interested to see if that pushing penalty could have been applied to the Pats punt coverage team. They seemed to get alot of push and were very close to getting at least 2 blocked punts. IMO thats why Quigley's punts were horrible.

If we lost that way i'd be outraged,even though it's a legit call, but we've been on the other side of bullshit calls more often then not. The Hill call in the end one was bullshit so it's finally karma for us in a positive sense. All in all I'd just like to see the refs letting the players play. Goodell is a fuckin disaster as commissioner and his tenure has really started to ruin this game.
I heard on Mike & Mike this morning Bill Polian say that this rule was put in place this year because the players association asked for it. They went to the competition committee in the off season with game tape and asked for this rule for the safety of the offensive linemen.
I don't know why people are surprised a fan base is blaming the refs for a lost game. That doesn't happen here does it? :grin: I think there was some confusion on some official rules web sites where this "second" level was still included in the discussion and then removed after this call. But if it's in there. it's in there.
The reality is good teams do get breaks just like the Champ gets the benefit on score cards on even rounds. Refs are human and when the see a well coached team over a course of years they give them the benefit of the doubt. It happened on the PI call on Hill which is none call on any number of big rep WR's. I think the Pats fans are shocked because your so used to the built in edge you don't even know it exists. The positive is the Jets were the better team on the field yesterday and bad teams generally lose close games even when they are the better team on the field all the time in the NFL because good teams seem to have "earned" the breaks from the refs over the course of the last few years. I think what happened yesterday was stunning to both fan bases because we lose games like that all the time and you win so many games just like that. Hopefully the playing field is being leveled based on the game not on the rep of teams or players. I doubt it, but it was nice to see from our side and the fact that the Pats fan base is whining about it is a nice cherry on top.
Amen. They are also the team that gets away with more holds than anyone, and their receivers flop for PI calls more than any other team in the league. They try to get away with everything and then whine when they're caught. They act with indignation if you ever bring up Spygate, how dare you bring that up!

Not for nothing, but that rule was instituted at the behest of the players union, as a player safety issue. So, since its a player safety issue, its going to get called no matter what point in the game it occurs, just like the out of bounds or helmet to helmet hit.
Yeah, that was a pretty lame call on Hill. I don't know if I can honestly say it was as important as teh penalty on Jones, but it arguably was since probably the Jets would have held onto the ball if Hill's catch was not overturned. Having said that, at the point Jones was penalized, I as a Jet fan have no problem acknowledging they were lucky to get that call. But so what? It's about time the Jets got a break. And NE did not. F em.

Watch his right leg about to get rolled at the end of the clip and note that if he hadn't pulled off an athletic move to yank his right leg out of there he quite possibly could've suffered a nasty injury. And THIS is partially the reason why this rule is in place. A guy having to contend with TWO guys pushing him may not be so lucky to be able to 'jump' out of the way like Ferguson did here. Pink dresses? seriously?....
