I disagree, as long as you aren't obnoxious you should be able to wear your teams colors into an opposing Stadium. It's ridiculous that people(usually drunk) will harass others b/c they are wearing opposing colors.

    Exactly.

You make some spurious comments there and to be fair your argument is getting away from what we are talking about here, alcohol and trouble IN the stadium.
I absolutely agree that drink causes some horrible scenes in stadia and maybe the Jets and other sporting organisations need to make folks more drink and responsibility aware.

Drink driving is 100% wrong and maybe a few police cars parked outside randomly doing drink-drive tests would soon snuff that out.

What if I wait all week to do what I like, have a drink and watch football, why should I and my friends and family be penalised?

Like i said, doesn't make it right. You could take the nicest guy in the world, put a Brady jersey on him at a Jets home (or any rival team) game and he'll still get harassed or worse. If you know there is potential risk to your safety by wearing the jersey, some of the blame has to be on you for showing lack of intelligence or complete ignorance.

One is too many and it's not just one, it happens a lot in every Stadium. No fan should ever feel unsafe watching a game. There are too many incidents every week that don't make the press.

The NFL will NEVER ban alcohol(until we see multiple deaths) b/c they make too much money off of it but they should and it would hurt some responsible drinkers but if you want to drink and watch the game go to a bar. I never understood the need for people to get drunk at games as they spend half the game on bathroom lines anyway.

What a prat you are, just by the language you use I can tell that you have little respect for women.
The are other ways to restrain someone with less physical strength than punching them...
    shame on you

I think there is good natured ribbing which is ok and there is the threat of violence which isn't. I expect to hear comments from fans when I go into an opposing stadium w/ my jets stuff on but I should never feel threatened physically(and I never really have) over a stupid game.

Ha ha, yeah peeing is a bit of a pain. I drink but TRY to avoid getting sloshed because I can't concentrate on the game. Even at home watching on TV I'm the same.
No I don't understand why people get slaughtered at games and profess to have watched the game.

Section 128, row 10, right between the fourth quarter and OT. Folk misses a practice field goal, it hits the seats right next to me, some guy dives for it and hit's a woman. Turns out the woman is the mother of a couple sitting behind us. Daughter barks at the guy who ran into her mom, meanwhile the mom is saying it's fine, no big deal. She refuses to shut up. Daughter's boyfriend comes back, punches the guy who dove for the ball, pretty big fight breaks out. Stupid daughter who was running her mouth throws punches, gets hit, no one around us cares... because she deserved it.

Sorry... if you throw a punch, expect to be punched back. Having a vagina doesn't make you impervious to the repercussions of acting like an asshole.

I underestimated the amount of assholes in gang green. I hope this thread isn't representative.

unfortunately it is the sports fan mentality that has been celebrated in the media for decades. people think it's ok to act like a nitwit b/c of it.

I went to the Giants/Eagles game a couple of weeks ago (friend got tickets and since the Jets were playing the Falcons on Monday, I figured why not?) and there was this one Giants fan, looked to be in his late 50's/early 60's who was intoxicated from the start and was ridiculously obnoxious to anyone wearing gear from other teams.

In my row a few seats down were a couple of guys wearing Eagles jerseys, minding their own business (it was freggin' kickoff) and the obnoxious fan was already starting in and yelling at them. It was ridiculous. A different group of people walked by to go to their section and one of the girl's was wearing a Jets Revis jersey and the guy started heckling her. He finally stfu once the Giants started getting beat up.

It shouldn't be this way but the alcohol does often allow for this type of behavior. It's a real shame.

The opposing fan in “gear” is an interesting argument. I have paid money in the past to go to “the Ralph” and watch games. Now in Buffalo what else is there to do than get shit faced before the game. I’m sure it’s like this at any of the 16 stadiums in the week. I was appalled last year when I saw the % of people noticeably intoxicated compared to the ones who weren’t.

With the idiots in society, why would you even risk it? It’s not like Mo Wilkerson is going to run into the stands and come to your defense if someone decides to pick a fight, as awesome as that would be. Better yet a group of people throwing haymakers.

Nope, Ill take my 55 inch Sony, flip to other games during commercials, drink my own drink, eat my own food, and punch my own wife…

You can't ban alcohol at games because then the team will make less money and that's not acceptable.

    My 2 cents.

You never hit a girl no matter what.

I also don't understand the logic of wearing opposing team jerseys and going to games. Play it safe and go neutral and enjoy watching your team. Not because you don't have a right to wear it but because this will keep you safe and not ruin your day. Nobody gives you a trophy when you watch a Jets-Pats game in Metlife with a Brady jersey.

Drinking at the stadiums should be banned. But I know NFL won't do it. As a father of 7 year old twin boys, I don't feel safe taking my boys to a game fearing they would witness drunk fans acting like assholes.
