I'm more interested in watching how a player gets into the endzone. Once he is in the endzone, there is really little reason to continue watching him. The real purpose of this rule is to discourage individuality, which may lead to more dangerous things in society like creativity and free thinking.
I'm one of those grumpy old white guys and I was thinking about Mo when I first saw him do it during the Atlanta game. I was surprised at him and thought it was classless. Of course, I've felt that way ever since the first Gastineau sack dance. I'd be happy to see the other team knock the guy out for excessive celebration. I thought it was great when George Teague tackled T.O. while he was spiking the ball on the Cowboys' star while a 49er. I'd actually like to see more retaliation in cases like the NE back slowing down as he got to the end zone. It would've made my day if the DB had put him on his ass in the end zone- penalty/ suspension be damned!
the problem is that many many i would say most football fans really dont have any real understanding of the game. its all a show for them. so naturally they like the show. its really pretty disappointing as they are the people the league is catering to at this point.

I like Victor Cruiz' Salsa dance...pretty classy and funny. But ideally the cheer squad would get in on the action showing their 'appreciation' for a job well done. And maybe even audition for the after party. I'm waiting for the day when a player and a cheerleader have a 'dancing with the stars' routine worked out and blow ppl away with 10 seconds of awesome dance routine.
If it comes from passion I don't mind it at all. Antonio Allen doing a silly flip into the endzone - sure, it's "showing the opposition up," but that's a 7th round pick who at some point might not have been sure he'd be an NFL player getting a pick-six on a first ballot Hall of Famer. On a personal level it was probably an extremely special moment for him. I just read an article that says he saved the ball for his son. Guys slowing down when they're clear through - maybe it's being a dick to the other team, maybe it's taking a moment to appreciate how special scoring an NFL touchdown is. Sounds a bit fruity, but I honestly believe that's what it is sometimes. Some of the touchdown dance stuff is corny and overdone, but I have a lot of sympathy for players (especially young players) being proud of playing at the highest level in the sport.
I am surprised that no one seems to have noticed that one of the Pats players did some pretty nasty showboating on the TD return on Geno's INT. I was waiting for the announcers to pick it up but they said nada. Dude essentially turned around, grabbed his crotch, and dove into the end zone. I was like.... WTF? Completely inappropriate public behavior for anyone, let alone by an NFL player on a televised game. If he cannot keep his hands off his willy for a couple hours then I suggest he at least take some alone time and save us all from the spectacle of publicly fondling himself. Then again, this is the Patriots. The whole organization are jerk offs, so I shouldn't be surprised if their players wanna go solitaire in public.

Hah not to mention Rex running his fat ass into the endzone to celebrate with him. I don't think I've ever seen a coach do that before. That game would have been over a lot sooner had Greene taken a knee at the 1, but then we would have been deprived him rubbing it in to the pats and their fans.
These guys are out there having fun They aren't doing any harm If teams don't like it keep them out of the end zone Like when we stuffed ATLANTA at the 1 and acted liked we won the Super Bowl
I don't love the "look at me" stuff, but I'm pretty much okay with it as long as it's not done in an opponent's face.
A ball spike is one thing but the stupid dancing and shit is just plain ridiculous. I can't even deal with Holmes' stupidity every time he makes a catch.
Hotdogging This type of behavior is not permitted at the high school and college level and it really looks stupid no matter where it occurs. Disrespecting opponents has never been a part of sports.
If you don't want to be perceived as an asshole don't act like one. I don't get the entire concept of professionals taunting their professional peers. We expect armatures to live up to basic ideals of sportsmanship. Why should professionals have a lower standard?
