I want him i want him i want him But seriously this is the cat I want he is lighting up Auburn. This guy might not even make it to our pick the way hes going. Reminds me a little of V Jax
There is a long ways to go but most mocks I have seen the last 2 months have had Evans and Watkins being the 1st two WRs taken normally both going in the top 10. But again a lot can change especially with all the QBS. If the draft does work out as very QB heavy it may end up letting a lot of really good talent slide down. Wouldn't it be wonderful to have a game changing WR.
I've been preaching for Mike Evans since week 1, he's the best WR in the country and it's not even close. I had Mike Evans as the Jets 1st Rd pick in my Jet's mock in Sept and many said he wasn't worth a 1st Rd pick. Evans will be the 1st WR drafted in 2014, if he declares, which is almost a certainty with Johnny Boy leaving.
Good points, and after tonights effort (11 rec 287 4 tds), I dont see this guy lasting too long. I was more of a Watkins/Lee guy, but after watching him this season, Im in board with Evans. Great size, good speed, and most importantly is a natural pass catcher who catches everything with his hands. Thats what we need!
I don't claim that Evans is a great athlete, he isn't the fastest player and Watkins is a much better athlete and more explosive. Evans just makes plays, runs great routes and has great hands. Evans looks to me like a NFL receiver who "knows" how to make plays. Evans isn't as physically gifted as an AJ Green or Megatron, but he will have success in the NFL because he does everything very well. I love how Evans reads his Qb and knows how to adjust when a play breaks down.
He played quite well against Auburn and Alabama and has been putting up great stats and is clearly Manziel's go-to guy. He should declare and be a first round pick depending on his interview and 40 time. Evans would look good in green and white. But should he be gone before we pick I would love for the Jets to get Ebron at Tight End to pair with Cumberland and/or possibly Jordan Matthews because this kid has NFL size at 6'3 and just knows how to get open and runs great routes like a family member of his named Jerry Rice.
honestly, our realistic pick at WR this year is marqise lee. evans and watkins should be gone by our pick
Lee's had an unusual amount of drops this season. Hopefully that's not something that carries over into his NFL career.
Lee is being overrated, he's been unproductive this year, his fault or not, probably a Rd 2 pick at this point.
there has been a lot of inconsistent play at QB, but yeah he has had some drops would you rather him or jordan matthews?
Lee over Matthews, but I like both players. Lee has a higher ceiling. Lee is in a tough situation at USC, his lack of production isn't all on him.
Lee has a higher ceiling, but I think Matthews is the more safe pick. I think Matthews will do very well in the NFL. If he's on the clock with our 1st round pick, I wouldn't mind drafting him at all.
I agree with everything you said except picking Matthews in Rd 1. Matthews will be at best a borderline Rd 1 pick and probbaly a 2nd rd pick. The way it's looking the Jets should be at worst 7-9 most likely 8-8, it will all depend on Geno's play the rest of the season. If we make the playoffs, a BIG IF, beating Miami twice will be the key, we know the defense will be solid. If the Jets are picking in the late teens, Evans and Watkins will be gone and other options at WR are pretty much late Rd 1 or 2nd rd value.
This may be a stretch at this point, but if we are picking in the late teens, and Evans or Watkins seem out of reach, Id be willing to trade up to grab one. There are other very good WR prospects in the draft, but these two have really separated themselves. Beckham, Allen Robinson and Jordan Mathews would be very good round 2 targets.
Well if theres a year to trade up its this year. Im not sure id completely be down with trading up, but with all our extra ammo this year it may be feasible
I WANT to anoint Evans as a top 10-15 type pick...I really do. His size alone is a rare commodity. When you factor in his body control & production it is mighty impressive. Yet every time I study him(virtually every week) I see a guy who runs sloppy routes & doesn't really get much separation. Now he's still making a ton of plays b/c he's so long & athletic but I worry how well he'd do in the NFL against some of the bigger more physical corners who know how to box bigger receivers out. He's still a really young guy...so the route running may come w/ time. But you always like to see separation from defenders especially on the college level from guys who are supposed to be elite level receiving prospects.
