It's called the competition committee, and the Pats have nobody on it.

I skipped to the end of this thread so I haven't read all the BS.

It was a good call. Player #94 clearly stepped around and behind his cohort in an effort to push him forward and up to block a kick (that would be low by the nature of the distance).

Imagine if the player who got the 'butt assistance' actually got 3 inches higher and blocked it, which was the full intent of #94.

If #94 didn't actually drop back a bit so he could step behind his man to push him up than I agree, BS call.

Funny thing is it was probably the Pats that demanded the new rule be added.

This thread title should be changed to "ref's make correct call, Patriot fan's outraged!"

Why is that? What rules has NE had added or lobbied to have added that makes you think this?

This is great. So now the determination of whether a rule is broken comes down to whether it directly effected the outcome of the play?

This really is good fun listening to Pat's fans logic after a loss that they've been on the other side of for the better part of the last decade...

    @MikePereira
That is correct call in NE/NYJ game. New rule this year can't push a teammate into the offensive formation on a field goal or try attempt.

That pretty much covers it. Clear rule prohibiting specific conduct. Blatant violation - right in front of the umpire. There is no subjectivity/judgment like PI/holding.

    BUTT PENALTY for the win!

It was absolutely the correct call.

And of course they're outraged, what do you expect out of them. They are use to being on the receiving end of every call. They are a spoiled bunch up there. I'm sure Kraft is throwing a temper tantrum.

    Great win

LOL, at everyone that says "it's the right call." Those people have never seen the call made before. Nobody has. Why that's even a rule is beyond me. It won't be a rule for long IMO, just like the tuck rule. Chris Jones got behind his man, but didn't even seem to push him all that much...to make a game deciding call about that is criminal...or so you would be saying if it happened against YOUR team.

I'm not upset it happened, LOL, but it really was BS. People are going to talking about that one all week.

It would have been nice if the refs called the Pats for Offensive holding on their tying drive but you didn't put us away and your luck finally ran out.

I think what we saw today was multiple shitty throws by Brady coupled with calls going against the Pats. It's been a long time coming but it looks like the combination that led to the Pats making it deep into the playoffs is over. Your simply going to have to adjust to the reality and find another way. BB has his work cut out for him. Finding a HOF QB at the end of the draft. Unbelievable luck with the Refs and knowing the opponents plays are all in the rear view mirror.

It's a safety rule that was just added this year, I don't think it's going away soon. The tuck rule incident happened in 2001, the rule was removed what two seasons ago? This rule is staying, it's meant to protect the OL. I like the idea, you can't just protect the QB and WR and call improvements in safety

Two seasons defined by a man running into another man's butt. Wow!

this kind of New England entitlement bullshit viewpoint has already been debunked by everyone. Pats fans should never be able to talk about calls ever, your whole asterisk dynasty is built on it.
