Overall, he has been a disappointment. Not sure how anyone can see otherwise. Definitely, not worth the money he is being paid or the titles he "earned."
Holmes may be the best we've got, but he's not exactly a world beater. Plus, he's an asshole. I'd rather watch the other guys play. Can't stand Holmes.
While I completely understand Holmes's attitude toward the media - if I were him I am sure I would not be any more media friendly, and I admire the way he behaves in the post game presser - that doesn't mean I would go overboard and hope all Jet players have a hostile attitude toward the media.
Its not the fact that is “shitting on the media”, but he is not allowing himself to move forward. Do you even watch these pressers? He will continue to have a volatile relationship with them (right, wrong, or indifferent) if he doesn’t stop thinking he is the victim. This still all stems back from the end of 2011. I called it back then and said if he doesn’t move on and admit some fault then this will continue to haunt him during his tenure in NY. But then again, he has been a douche since his days in Ohio St, Pittsburgh, and now NY. Me or any fan expecting him to change his stripes is ridiculous. He could though make things easier on himself if he wasn’t such a prick. Get more bees with honey…
He was okay in '11 then he looked like he was on his way to a productive '12 before the foot injury. This year he's been hampered by injuries, he's been disappointing but it isn't because he isn't trying.
Maybe you should. A me-first talent who CERTAINLY hasn't lived up to the expectations of that contract. He was a great get for the price tag in the trade. He was an awful extension. I don't think it's justifiable to say otherwise, personally.
Holmes is a injury prone dick now, his contract was never worth the price. I would like for us to continue this youth movement we got going on on offense. That includes finding a #1 WR that can beat press coverage every Sunday. Been saying this since the Eagles game in 2011. I find it cute that certain fans still back Holmes, he's virtually useless outside of 4 or 5 games.
We haven't had an elite receiver around here in such a long time, fans have forgotten what one looks like. It ain't Holmes, that's for sure.
^You mean the type that can make extremely difficult superbowl winning catches? That's bullshit. Holmes hasn't done a single bad or classless thing since the end of 2011. Shitting on the media does not make him wrong or classless. It makes him smart because the media doesn't matter when it comes to football and he knows it. Why should he bother "repairing" any relationships with them? Is that going to improve his play on the field or reduce the chance of injury? Nope. You could say he hasn't lived up to his contract, sure. That much is obvious, but he's a huge threat on the field when he's healthy and he was integral in our biggest win in a decade (NE playoff game), and getting to that game. He doesn't say the usual politically correct things to reporters and they bash him because of it, but none of that matters. Wins do.
Has had some good games for us but huge contract for few catches. Hope he comes back but the team should dump him in the off season.
Are you willing to still be paying for that Super Bowl winning catch? Because that is exactly what we are doing. The team he caught that ball for wasn't even interested in paying him for the past, so why the hell should we? This guy is an average starting NFL WR. Look at the numbers. They're just not that good. On the field - He is not big, nor is he a speedster. He's really an undersized, possession type WR. And he's a dickhead.
So if Idzik called Kerely into his office and offered him $10M/yr then we should hate Kerely too and want him off the team? Just trying to follow your logic.
I would be shocked if Holmes is on the team next season, from game winning catch in the SB to a player that looks average at best with the Jets, is it Holmes or the Jets management/coaches that have short changed his career here so far
