But you would use that pick for, Hill? That's what we have here, hypothetical’s.

If Gordon was available for a 2nd and there was verbiage in the trade that that gave the Jets back a 3rd or 4th if he was suspended in a year of the trade I would do it in a second.

Gordon is proving he has elite talent, this trade scenario helps mitigate some of the risk involved with his past behaviors.

Right, because Rex had Idzik in a headlock on draft day and said "...draft for D or I keep squeezing..."

    +1

Keep the picks. Let Widz and Rex do their thing.

I am in favor of keeping the picks. I think Idzik deserves the benefit of the doubt. Let's see how his drafts will turn out.

Context. If looking to make a trade, I'd request that the team interview him before making any deal. Try to determine what the circumstances were. Try to determine the likelihood of another repeat. Don't go in blind. It doesn't do the team justice to ignore it either way. If this is an avenue that can potentially help the Jets and Geno, it has to be investigated at least. It doesn't cost any draft picks to look into it, which for all we know they are.

And he's one DUI or failed drug test away from a year long suspension. That 2nd round pick could get us a stud OLB or WR.

Gordon is a stud WR. He may be a risk for his off-field issues, but any college player that we would draft is a risk, both with performance on the field, and off-field issues.

With Gordon, we eliminate the performance risk, which is much greater imo.

Gordon is a good receiver but we entered this season with one goal in mind, and that is to see what we have and to develop young players. We need every last one of those 12 picks this team is short on depth at key areas. These draft picks will address those needs. And also Gordon is off the table so I don't see why this is still a topic of discussion.

Guy has a ton of talent, If you don't think there will be an equal talented player who can step in and contribute in the 2nd from the draft, pull the trigger. Give Geno a chance. He has no receivers worth much right now plus there usually hurt.

No matter what we do a BIG top flight WR is on our must have list for sure.

I would do it for a conditional 2nd round pick.

You absolutely make this deal. I'm not convinced he's available, but if the asking price is a 2nd round pick for a player in the 2nd year of his 4 year rookie deal, you still get 2 more years of him at basically $1M for the price of a 2nd round pick. The reason people say you build through the draft is because normally these trades occur for high-priced talent, which doesn't work in the capped NFL. But you're getting low-priced talent with some baggage. When did this become a Mangini team again? If he gets suspended for a year, he doesn't get paid. And he's 22 years old, so hopefully he's grown up by now and realized that the suspension would cost him a million bucks. But if he hasn't, the worst thing we lose is a 2nd round pick, and some of those guys we've gotten might as well not be on a team. With 12 picks, I hope we hit on a number of them (even though I think they're mostly low picks). But, this is a 22 year old kid who has already proven he can succeed at this level, and he's got a couple years left on his cheap contract. Make the deal and just make sure he's going to Broadway shows and not Phish concerts.

Gordon is a beast and he's young. Sure, there's a relatively big risk, but for a second I'd do it no doubt. Yea, we want as many picks as we can get, but I think trading a second for a thus-far proven stud at WR is very much so worth it.

2014 3rd and a conditional 3rd in 2015 (suspension dependent) is a 100% fair trade considering the risk

I dont understand stand the thought process of we need all the draft picks, with specific verbage in the trade we know what we would have with Josh. The draft is a crap shoot, we can get Brady or we can get Vlad, sorry sign me up for the sure thing. That allows us in the first to go olb or safety then.

Gordon or Nicks would be a huge welcome to this team. A second is high but i'd probably do it. Geno needs weapons for his development.

    No to nicks.
    No to gordan.
You are 100% right that geno needs more talent but not this way.
Next draft will have a ton of talent. Including QB if geno doesn't improve.

We have people bitching and moaning about a franchise QB but trading picks decreases our chances if geno turns to crap to get a shot at our own elite QB. Geno has not proved anything yet. I would give him a C grade so far.

so you agree that Geno needs talent around him but you wont get him any. But if he fails, you want all our picks to draft a QB even though we never gave Geno talent to see if hes any good?

I don't understand. Gordon is such a top tier talent, he's better than any WR we could get in the 2nd round and fills a GIGANTIC need

Idzik is not going to go down the path Tanny went. It's a big reason why he was hired.
