    Jets receive:
    » Josh Gordon, wide receiver

    Browns receive:
    » Second-round draft pick

Why it would make sense: Though the team has insisted Gordon is not on the block, if the Cleveland Browns, who are trying to stockpile draft choices, could get a second-round pick back, I think they'd be happy to trade him. The receiver has lights-out talent and is improving every day. Getting the appropriate value in return for a player as good as he is will be difficult, though, because of the off-field issues in his recent past. Yes, he has the potential to make a gigantic difference, but is acquiring him worth the risk that he might become a detriment to your team?

I could see someone like Rex Ryan, who needs to win now to keep his job, seizing on the opportunity. The New York Jets are extremely thin at receiver, what with the hamstring injury to veteran Santonio Holmes, and might be interested in taking a chance on Gordon.

Incidentally, the Browns took a lot of heat for dealing Richardson, but the running back has struggled to make an impact in the weeks since joining the Colts -- and I'm sure few people are complaining about the move in Cleveland today.

Gordon and Geno would be an excellent fit.

The bold seems like a bad decision to get Gordon. Also, how would this make sense in Idzik's mind unless he believes he is on the hot seat too and need the team to win now?

Prefer to keep our 12 draft pics and take our chances.
Disagree: Rex is not coaching to save his job this season

I'd make the deal if the Jets FO felt confident that his issues are overstated.

Braylon Edwards was a major boon for Mark Sanchez, but the Jets didn't commit to keeping them together. They instead opted for the king of "me first" and watched the team deteriorate.

So... evaluate the personality... good football player with desire to be great? Or another diva interested in himself?

If you can say with certainty he's the kind of guy you want on the team, then make the move AND make a commitment to keeping him and Geno together for the foreseeable future. Geno needs receivers to grow with and the current group just doesn't cut it long term.

Scene: John Idzik's office, NY Jets HQ

    Enter Rex Ryan, stage left:

"Johnny, listen, I need you to channel your best Tanny impression and trade your 2014 2nd round draft pic for that kid from Cleaveland"

Idzik: "Get the fuck outta here".

A 2nd rounder for Gordon? Make it happen, because as long as Rex is here he will be pushing for Defense anyway in the early rounds. Known young talent beats young unknown talent every day of the week.

I would give a second rounder in a heartbeat for a dude who is 22 and is catching the league by storm. Why take a chance at a potential bust 2nd round pick over a guy who is establishing himself as being a great talent?

6'3 with blazing fast speed over probably an offensive lineman or something? Ill take Gordon for a 2nd rounder any day of the week and 16 times on sunday.

Plus, he and Geno would be joined at the hip for the next few years. Just give it a chance. Pull the trigger.

a kid with his talent coming out of the draft is drafted no later than the second round. why not trade the pick. gordon is young enough and rex has shown he can deal with guys who are known to be more troublesome.

Why are the Browns dealing this superstar in the making?

    Think about it.

I'm sure Rex understands the benefits of having a good O, not only do they put points on the board, it keeps his gassed D off of it.
Rex has put in the foundations for a great D, we are a few pieces off that now. Next years draft will be all about the O, no 'Rex' picks.

    If they are.

How can you overstate the fact that the guy is one failed piss test from a year long suspension? That means he's already failed two. Maybe for a 5th round pick I'd make this deal. Far too much risk for a second rounder.

This is just a guess but I believe the odds strongly favor the Jets taking a free safety by their 4th pick. They really need that piece of glue in the middle of the defense.

How about we keep our draft picks and stick to the plan? Let's build through the draft. This Josh Gordon talk is getting annoying.

all im saying is i'd rather have josh gordon over vlad ducasse

it really bothers me how people think this 2nd round pick will be a home run or something. josh gordon IS a home run and he is so incredibly young it's literally the same thing as building through the draft
