One thing a friend of mine was telling me was that Geno doesn't know how to shuffle and reset in the pocket. (His mechanics and decisions-making like stepping up into the pocket, not throw off his back foot, etc. need to be better) It's hard to mentally read, and think about your base and feet at the same time. Geno may not have learned as well in Miami or at West Virginia. Hopefully MM and co will fill him in on this.
Dirty, I agree it's hard to tell. I was merely trying to point out even if Cumberland broke to the pylon it would probably not have been a good play. What Reuland was doing there... perhaps he should not have been, if the play were allowing for an option of Cumberland being in the same spot. But no one has said that. Still it is possible. And you are no doubt correct that if it was a safety read play, Cumberland made the right choice - he was wide open.
You do not make consistent and coherent arguments. As I said you said I was a jackass because I took your argument too literally. You keep changing your story. Other than the humor factor, I am coming to the conclusion that you add nothing here.
I recently wrote this about Geno. Let me know what you guys think of both the content and prose. http://thesportspost.com/blogs/view/trial-by-fire-geno-smiths-evolution-as-a-leader Cheers!
You compare him to similar rookies that are emerging within the same year span of the NFL. Go look at my thread I created "Tracking Geno Smith Stats" if you want a comparison.
Been away for a few days, just saw the gem this thread turned into. Did some dipshit just compare Geno to Luck in a superior way? _
I think its good. But you need to have a critical side as well. Seems like there is mainly defense of Geno.
When you discuss Andrew Luck, be sure to include the fact the NY Jets stomped the living snot out of him last year.
MM seems to be trying to work around his poor footwork by having be in shotgun the majority of the time, but the fact that he continuously fails to step up in the pocket is still a problem even in shotgun.
Luck was the #1 overall pick in the draft, and is throwing to Reggie Wayne and T.Y. Hilton, as well as being in his 2nd year. Comparing him to Geno is nonsense. Sanchez mucked it up for 4 years before we ditched him, I think we can give Geno at least 1 year before making a judgment. As I've pointed out before, its no surprise that the loudest Geno detractors are the same people that think we should shovel Muck back onto the field to embarrass himself some more.
Don't compare him to anyone. It's that simple... Who does your wife compare you to? And how do you measure up? Think about it. We are all unique .
"Geno Smith, the immense talent that inexplicably fell right into New York's lap, has been given the reins. " Wow, the article wasn't bad, but the bias was overwhelming and the truth was extremely stretched. Geno is on pace to have more turn-overs in a season than Sanchez ever had and Geno has a much better line the Sanchez has had the past two seasons. Smith's mechanics are worse and he makes the same bonehead plays.
