The Giants finally decide to suck and they will be rewarded with a top pick in one of the greatest draft classes in NFL history, but when the Jets blow - not one franchise QB is available and we have assholes like Peyton Manning deciding to be cool and stay in school.

That franchise wins even when they lose. Did Leon Hess murder a Gypsy's wife or something?

The number of losses the Giants have to get too to get either Bridgewater or Clowney is high enough that I don't think they're turning it around any time soon after that.

It shouldn't escape anybody's attention that the Giants are on their worst pace since 1976 and it took them long years after that to become competitive again. If they actually go 2-14 I expect their next playoff berth to be along about 2017 or so and that's only because the NFL has become a parity-charity competition.

If Clowney ends up on the Giants...

Giants need a whole lot more than just a pass-rush to fix that mess.

    That's the main point.

The Giants need offensive line help, linebackers, defensive line help, a running back and by the time they get all of that stuff together they're going to need a QB too.

What they need is for a Pete Carroll type to come in and tear the mess down and rebuild it from the center out. That takes several years to get to the point the team looks good again. If the early years have accidents it can take 5 years.

I'm wondering if this is where Nick Saban lands. It's one of the few NFL jobs that is high profile enough to lure him away from his completed dynasty at Alabama.

I think the Giants need a coaching change. They're better than their record. As for what the OP said about the Jets. Keep in mind that Peyton only stayed another year because Parcells wouldn't guarantee that he'd take Manning with the number 1 pick.

The Midgets will win about 4 total and be out of the Bridgewater/Clowney blue chip top 2 race

Their best bet would be to trade down since they have Grand Canyon sized holes to fill at OT, OG, C, TE, RB, DL, LB, CB and S

also HC, DC, OC and GM

otherwise they are "a clazzy marquise franchize in terrifig shape"

Payton manning wanted to come out and play for parcels. They wanted the jets to assure them that they would take him. Parcells would not commit. Biggest mistake he made for us

It wasn't a mistake that Parcells made. It was Leon Hess wanting to bring a Super Bowl to the Jets before he died.

Parcells knew there was zero chance of that happening in the 2-3 year time frame he had to work with if he took a rookie QB to build around. He told Archie Manning that if Peyton came out in 1997 he'd go #1 but he didn't guarantee him #1 would be the the Jets.

Wasn't there a way around this? They were too shortsighted IMO. Why not draft Peyton then let him sit behind a vet for a year or two? Not getting Peyton set this franchise back in the long run even though we had some level of success.

There was no way around it. The Jets traded that draft pick down several times to pick up enough talent to really begin turning things around.

If the Jets draft Peyton Manning in 1997 they probably have the same thing happen that happened to the Colts after they took Manning in 1998: another really bad season.

Could be a run to the finish between the Steelers, the Jags and the Giants. I'm betting on the Jags....

Also, I'm not convinced Clowney will be the world beater every body is clamoring for. He is no Lawrence Taylor

When Coughlin leaves, it will be an attractive destination that's for sure. Bill Cowher has been waiting for that job opening.

That would be a classic lol if Saban went to the Giants.

So we suck again in 97. Let's say we win 4/5 games. Keep in mind we already had Chrebet and Keyshawn, and Curtis on his way. It's not too farfetched that we could've had the same success with a 2nd Manning.
