What if Rex gets feed up with waiting? He has nowhere to go unless a team is willing to part with picks for him. Lets see how the year ends up. 1 good performance doesn't equal 2 years of a team collapsing down the stretch. He's signed through the 2014 season. There is no rush on either parties part to extend. Rex might have more leverage if he has a great year. I don't see any need by either party to rush into it. My guess is since Woody already undermined Idzik on the decision Rex has to screw up big time to not get an extension.
At this point Rex can find a job elsewhere if he wanted to. The amount of praise ive seen since monday night is crazy. People are again saying hes a top coach considering the talent hes working with.
What's that ? Going 9-7 making the SB and beating a cursed (spygate) NE team twice? Luckiest team ever.
This makes no sense at all. Most people are saying to wait til the end of year and extend then if they want. You think Rex is gonna turn down teh offer and say " nope, you should have extended me during the season, Im coaching this year to finish my contract and IM leaving". Come on dude
What a stupid article. Once again, Woody refusing to comment on a stupid speculative statement like that means nothing. People like to imagine that Woody not commenting on stuff like that means he doesn't like Rex. That's utterly retarded. This means nothing and is not news.
You can't judge Idzik until he hires his own coach. This board is still delusional about Ryan. Not a surprise considering many thought Revi$ not being a Jet was heresy. Phil Emery fired Lovie Smith and brought in his own coach.
That team was 8-3 after a 3-3 start. What a season of ups and downs. From the early season loss against the Chargers on national television, to the loss to the Raiders on a 57 yard field goal, to winning 5 straight, and then collapsing to a 9-7 finish. That up and down year changed a lot in this franchise.
5 games into the season, an were already wondering if Rex will get canned, at this point were 3-2 , imo rex deserves another year, I figured 3 to 5 wins at best, he's already excited my expectations.
That's one thing I don't understand about you guys. Where does this idolatry of Ryan come from? I like Ryan and think it would probably be better if he stayed, but some people here worship the ground he walks on. Woody is like any owner in this given circumstance would be, 5 years is the time Ryan was given and where is the team now?? Two great seasons and two losing seasons. He obviously has a measuring stick, god knows what it is? Idzak is probably trying to figure out whether supporting Ryan or not will keep him employed. I think the major question about firing Rex is who is better?? How do we know we'll get a better coach?? The Eagles hired Chip Kelly with no pro experience. What assistant coach has the mindset and skills to be a great leader for the Jets?? Anybody know who the current popular choices for the nest available pro jobs are??
It's not worshiping the ground he walks on, it's defending him from absolutely ludicrous accusations made by haters. I have to do this constantly on this board because there are many that think he can do no good and that he knows nothing about football. Oh and it's, two good seasons, 1 mediocre season, and 1 losing season with major injuries. There were not 2 losing seasons, sorry. He's got a 50% playoff rate, has gotten Mark Sanchez to the AFC title game twice and has helped make our defense a consistent top 5 D. If there wasn't so much hate out there, most of us wouldn't have to defend him to such extremes, but too many act like he's the worst hc in the league and criticize everything he ever does. He's got an overall winning record, and has had more success than almost every other Jets coach. People need to chill with the hate, that's all.
Good article on Rex from the NY Post: (yeah, I know) http://nypost.com/2013/10/08/jets-in-contention-as-ryan-evolves/
It sure is. And quality entertainment, as I said. But I still don't get the reference. I mean, I have no idea why you brought it up. Dude-arooski.
