Hasn't Barnes shown red flags with his past injuries. Most of us figured this would happen at some point, not unlike Kris Jenkins. Hopefully Coples steps it up soon.
Well sure, that's definitely good but a lot of that is probably due to how disruptive the rest of the line is being which pushes the QB towards him or at least absorbs a lot of double teams giving him more space to operate. Not knocking the guy, just saying it's not like he's an elite force putting up those numbers by himself. That being said, as I said previously, I don't think we have a depth player that is as good as he has been so it's definitely a loss...just not sure it's a huge one.
That sucks. I swear the Jets have the worst luck with injuries. Every time things are looking decent, some major injury hits. Such crap.
I don't think it is a major injury (obviously it is if he's out for season, but I mean in terms to the defense) with how disruptive the rest of the line is, I think Sapp (or anyone else really) can win a few 1 v 1 matchups for us. Get well soon Barnes.
He was the best pass rushing OLB on the roster, that's for sure. I know it's not a big a loss as Wilks or Richardson, but it's pretty big considering our depth at linebacker. Coples is really going to be leaned on now, and a lot of our success will depend on him. He hasn't convinced me as of yet that he's ready for full time OLB duties, and I liked him bouncing all around the Dline. We'll probably see him play more linebacker now.
This is really upsetting. I loved Barnes speed and energy setting the edge and getting to the QB. He's a tough one to replace.
