Also people need to realize that Woodhead didn't bite us in the ass either. That's an illusion. He didn't put up great numbers, he only did decent because the Pats are a pass first elite offense, any RB will put up decent #s there. Teams never play the run against them. Danny Woodhead was never anything special. Jets fans just fell in love with him and then over rated him for the rest of his career, just like they would have under rated him if he stayed on the Jets and talk about nothing except how big a bust he is. He didn't fit in with the Jets at the time, simple as.
I'm not saying he can't. I'm just saying the odds are against it. If he was this great talent he would have been drafted. Thats not to say UDFA's dont breakout and become good players but more dont then do.
If Spadola would rather play for the Dolphins than the Jets he obviously doesn't have the right character to play here. Sounds like a hissy fit over getting cut. Pretty poor show on his part.
Seriously folks, it's impossible to keep every UDFA jag that catches a couple of passes against future deli workers and personal trainers in the second half of preseason games despite the love shown for them by Lehigh alums and family.members here.
Why all the angst? We chose the immortal, multi-faceted, blazingly boring Clyde Gates over Spadola so that should tell you everything you need to know about the decision making process.
and thats most likely it. Gates is a ST'er and can stretch the field, he is one of the fastest on the team. From what I've read, Idzek wanted to resign him after the Atl game but instead chose to sign onto the phins practice squad.
To make the 53 man roster for that game, that decision would have fallen to MM not anyone else. William Campbell made it and to make room Spadola was placed on PS. So Spadola didn't like being put there and spat the dummy?? This has nothing to do with Dola Vs Gates , or anyone else
He will not be a BLOWFISH either for long. We play them in a few weeks. After they pick his brains, he will once again be a free agent!
This is a valid criticism. Gates is 27 and obviously toast at some point soon and Spadola was much younger and maybe more upside. On the other hand the Jets may have wanted a vet, even a mediocre one, given the situation at WR. You can only have so many project guys like Stephen Hill on the roster before the cumulative effect begins to overwhelm the offense. When you are trying very hard to develop one of them, as the Jets are with Hill, you need other guys in the mix. The Jets obviously felt that Gates was a better bet for the season than Spadola. Odds are pretty good that they don't like either of them long-term.
if he plays w/ Brady then he will look much better than he is. Screw him, we gave him a chance and he turned his back on us.
hey two potential recievers available in trade - both very young and explosive. Josh Gordon suppossedly can be had for the right price as well as Justin Blackmon of the Jacksonville Jaguars- who made serious explosion plays the other day. What you guys think would you make a deal for either- a 2nd or 3rd probably get it done.
I see the first several rounds of the 2014 draft being offense, offense and offense because of the points you just made.
Good luck with that. Picking MM's brain is about as easy as picking RR's. With all the options both have at their command anything Spadola tells them will probably be long gone before we kick off.
