Jarrett made some plays last night. There is some potential there.

I thought the secondary looked dam good. The Atlanta receivers were blanketed most of the night. Gonzales and Jones are going to catch the ball in tight coverage against almost any NFL corner and safety. Ryan puts the ball in about as tight a window as any QB in the NFL. It's not like guys were running free in our secondary they weren't.

When you have great athletes with experience who know how to use their bodies and hands and a QB who can put the ball right on their hands in traffic, I don't care how good your backfield is.

Cromartie doesn't look right this year, particularly in the tackling department. Injury?

I agree. The secondary has looked shaky in earlier games, but to some extent the poor game against Tennessee doesn't look so bad when you consider Locker is an improving Qb, and likely belongs in the top fifteen.

Against a really good Qb in Ryan, Atlanta completed some tough passes. You have to expect that against a quality opponent in the passing game. Plus Atlanta had to pass since they only gained 64 on the ground.

I have concerns about Milliner, and Wilson is a disappointment. But on the whole the secondary was not as concerning as some earlier games. Like i said Walls in particular looked better. WHich is a good thing, since he will likely start until he either plays himself off the field or Milliner plays himself on it.

I fail to see how a Secondary, playing against a team that's only option is to pass, only punted twice and gained 20 first downs, played well. Not to mention Walls muffing a pick 6 and Landry/def missing the fumble. If Atlanta passed the whole game instead of running, our Def would only get off the field if we sack/fumble QB or they ATL scores.

The JETS are basically playing with box safeties because Cro and Walls have no deep help. Walls has been steadily improving and had some chances at a few INTs but Cromartie has been getting beat deep constantly it seems every week.

That's because you fail to see how talented the Atlanta, WR, TE and QB are and how the rules prevent the defensive backs from assaulting them.

The coverage was good. Atlanta is loaded at the skill position in the passing game. We stopped them at the goal at the end of the half when they had no field to work with. That turned out to be the game in the end. The D was great.

Who is Tennessee's top notch WR's/TE? Our good secondary gets PI calls on a weekly basis. Must be NY bias. I'm not a complete SOJF, I'm a realistic fan, and my eyes tell me the secondary will lose you games. Crom is constantly pulling jerseys, it infuriates me. He's a yellow flag waiting to be thrown. Hope Millner can get back next week and contribute. Although i expect the same growing pains/rewards we see from our QB in our CB as well.

  12. I encourage everyone to listen to a Dennis Thurman press conference. Very informative regarding the secondary. It's gotten to the point where the whole coverage unit is having to play more like safeties than press coverage corners. Too many big skill guys, accurate QB's & rules that favor the offense.

It's become more about being where their supposed to be, good tackling & challenging all passes after the ball has been released. The days of blanket coverage aside from Revis & few other guys..is basically over.

And if you don't think Cro is one of the best in the league..you haven't been watching a lot of the NFL.

I hate when teams play prevent defense with a comfortable lead, its how you lose games and that's what we did last night. I hope we don't do it again.

I didn't see that. Falcons did a little better holdingh off the pass rush. Cro played man the whole game.

...And by man I mean he held onto Jones Jersey everywhere he went.

Did you see the PI against Sherman during the Colts game? They put up 34 against Seattle. Drove on them twice down the stretch. Seattle has a pretty good secondary.

The TN game was a bad game in all phases. I wouldn't be overly concerned about that. Who exactly was running free last night on us? Jones and Gonzales along with White are going to catch balls on anyone.

A few times, but after the Falcons burned them on the draw twice for big yardage they stopped.

I think the Jets did a decent job of bringing the rush most of the night. Teams like the Falcons are gonna score some points...

I wish they would give Trufant more time as the nickel. He's like 5'7 150 but plays like he is 6'4 230. I love watching him play, he always seems to be in the mix making things happen. He came closer to defending a Gonzales reception that any all night (except the almost pick), though he had to climb Tony like a tree to get in there.

I have some concerns and it is definitely the weak link of the D. However, we will not be playing Jones and Gonzalez every week. I'm not sure I loved the coverage strategy on Gonzalez but he is a matchup problem for anyone
