First off my deepest congratulations to the Jets. A well earned victory tonight. Second, for all of the media experts that predicted the Jets will win three games this season....well you were right so far. From here on out, for each victory, eat shit and go away. The Jets are a young team with a lot of potential. Do we have a way to go, hell yes, but this game is a message to the league that no one should take us for granted...and we will get better in years to come.
Sometimes people forget that as bleak as things may seem, these are the best of the best. Any Given Sunday. I also thought this would be a year to rebuild and assess what we have. Everyone has stepped up thus far, I like what I'm seeing. Great win tonight. Impressive final drive to put the game away. Next weeks game is a very winnable game. We almost had the Patriots number in the second week in Foxborough. Very plausible that we can be sitting at 5-2. Patriots play the Saints next week. Possible 4-2, the way the saints are playing. If we can beat them at home, drop them to 4-3 and we'd be at 5-2 Miami would be on a bye sitting at 3-2 and play the Bills in week 7. Things are looking good in the short term for sure. After that...time will tell.
Fuck the media as a staff, record label and as a mothafuckin' crew. Projected worse than the fucking Jaguars. Fuck off.
It's not in the media's best interest to have factual reporting on the Jets. Due to the large market, they will shit on them to sell papers & get blog hits. Anyone with half a brain knew how good this defense could be going in. The QB situation was a fair thing to scare people off but they were never as bad as the media made them out to be.
just got done watching the post game. What I like about this team is the phyicality and size we bring too the table. Our defensive line including our ends and one olb (Coples) averages well over 300lbs and can move. Offensive line has a nasty streak. Cumberland, Hill, Winslow are big targets. David Harris Mauls people and Demario Davis has great combo of speed and strength. I think if nothing else comes out of this season I do believe that its clear we look to add team speed.
Hey, I can't say I expected a win. Didn't necessarily even think it would be close. But admittedly, I was making a prediction based on how good I thought the Falcons probably should be rather than realizing there's a reason they have one win. What a game though. The D was stout for most of the game, Geno was huge.
I don't really care about the media and the other side shows. For me the last 2 years haven't had many games that were even watchable. Lack of intensity, play making, big stops. Last nights game was just a dam good game. I thought the Atlanta QB was absolutely stellar, our D took every punch and punched back. Geno looked like a pro QB. We ran the ball, made catches in traffic and small and big plays all over the field. We also had outstanding special teams play. That was simply a real good football game. There have been far to few of them in the NFL this year. If Rex can keep this young team hungry we might have a few meaningful games and a very watchable team. Geno has a toughness about him that I think matches very well with our D. The Jets finally have a guy who can take a punch in the mouth and deliver a punch back. You don't finish like that on the road in a dome without having some spine.
We're all very happy, but traditionally, these types of projections are where it always goes off the rails. Let's take it one game at a time
I was one of those genious' too. I said time and again that the Jets would be a 2-3 win team. My foot tastes both awful and wonderful at the same time. The defense is playing better than I thought they would, and I figured they'd be damn good. But the offense has played so far above my expectations that I cannot measure it. And Geno? Can't say enough about him and his performance last night, especially considering his awful game against TN. We just might have something in this kid. I won't anoint him The Second Coming just yet, but I will say that he certainly has proven he should have been a first rounder. Kid can ball.
Yep. I talked to my brother (in NY) after the game and we discussed the same thing. Best football game I've seen in awhile, and the best JETS game I've seen in a few years. Both teams playing fairly well, instead of one just playing "less shitty" than the other. It was a refreshing sight. That final drive was great...... I watched it with my father, and we were both looking at each other like "WTF?!?" At the end he was happy I made him drink 2 cups of coffee before gametime..... although this morning maybe not
