yeah... geno's biggest play on that last drive was the scramble for 8 yards. nothing was there and defenders were breaking protection. thats a play were last year sanchez makes a game losing play with a fumble, pick on a ill advised funball, or takes a huge sack before throwing a pick on 2nd and long
I really do have to wonder .... how many GMs are out there right now thinking, "Well crap, maybe we should have taken him in the first round."
The Jaguars could have taken him in the second. The Vikings could have had him on the 29. There are teams really hurting at QB who had cheap shots at him and passed.
Geno has surpassed Sanchez, IMO. Sanchez did not have his first 3 TD game until year 2. He has also never gotten a QB rating as high as 147. He's also only hit 80% completion once in his career. He came close a couple times, but this is huge for a rookie playing his 5th total game in the NFL. I think he's way ahead of where Sanchez was at this stage of his career. Oddly enough both teams had the same record at this point and are playing the NFC south.
Geno is listening and he's willing to learn more. The coaches are teaching him well. It's a good relationship when the QB takes the lessons learned and applies it THE VERY next game
Cut this bullshit and enjoy the fucking win, jeez. I'm not completely sold on Geno just yet, since he IS a rookie and he will struggle at times later in the season, but I'm warming up, a lot and tonight is what did it. The guy showed great poise on the game winning drive. He didn't turn the ball over and we were in the game offensively the whole game. He looked good in all aspects that a QB needs to look good. An overthrow here or there, but no QB is going to be perfect. Also you can only do so much with the crap WR core we have, but Geno made Gates, Hill, Nelson look like studs, and that's what you need in a QB. Best game of his this season. I hope we see more of this in weeks to come.
According to Cimini's article Rex told Geno to have a clear mind and let it rip instead of trying to slow him down, and that last run play Powell had to set up the Folk FG, Geno checked into that, it was initially a passing play. It almost backfired, but Powell made a nice move in the backfield and picked up 6yards for us
the dude is not selfish at all , he gived it to powel cuz the safeties were deep back. Great audiable period. Thats what a QB does gets a way to win the game even if its not him who makes the play.
I still think we should have benched Geno at some point against the Titans but it does seem that hitting rock bottom was necessary for him to get serious about protecting the football. Was very happy with the effort and performance from Geno and the rest of the team last night. Let's take care of business next week so we can face the Patsies for the division lead.
I hope this is a sign for the future. Just an outstanding game off the Tennessee debacle. We didn't face a great D but a game like last week could bury a fragile QB and Geno was near perfect capped off by the great GW drive. He didn't look ready the first 4 weeks, he sure did last night. He'll still have some clunkers as rookies do but the confidence in him right now is pretty high.
