Yeah, it was going to be a scintillating discussion. "Spadola wuz awesome!! Wtf? Why'd we cut him?? Bring back Braylon!!" There you go, mate. Back on topic. It's all yours from here.
I think I was the only who thought Campbell was the better receiver between him and Spadola. Especially the last Pre season game Campbell looked pretty good. Spadola need some more reps, and hopefully practice Squad is where he'll get the reps.
So Spadola is waived and now he gets the Clowney award, but Matt Simms remains the second coming of Tom Brady for playing well in one preseason game in his entire post high school football career!!! Its amazing how this board treats QBs differently from non-QBs.
I guess we can agree to disagree on the definition of a dropped pass. Spadola had one ball thrown his way and the defender reached in and broke the pass up. It's not like he was wide open and the only thing that prevented a catch were butterfingers. And for the record, every single WR that's ever played the game has had their share of drops. This kid had one opportunity to make a play and it didn't work out, so that's it? At a position that the NYJ are glaringly thin at, this kid didn't have a place? So be it, maybe he was awful in practice, I have no idea...
Does anyone know how many snaps he got? I didn't pay close attention to his route running, but he was only targeted once. If he wasn't getting separation that might be a problem. I know in the preseason he got more snaps than I thought, based on the amount of passes thrown his way.
Absolutely. I'd take a hurt Santonio Holmes over Gates. It's a joke that they cut Spadola but this jackass Gates still has a job. It's just baffling to me how he is still on the team. He serves absolutely no purpose on the field.
Lmao at people saying im " a huge Spadola fan" his body of work against 5 th and 6 th stringers means nothing,Its the Matt Simms conversation same shit
I think we just massively prefer the players that don't make the team over the ones that do - as most of the ones that do play for us are a disappointment (the awesome defensive line being the exception - most games I watch now I actually prefer to see us without the ball as its the only time we look good).
position has got nothing to do with it, really.... Spadola got one throw and it ended up getting pulled out of his hands for an interception. I hope he ends up back on the practice squad where he might get a second chance. But this gnashing of teeth like the Jets have given up on a Hall of Famer is just, silly. Chrebets and Taskers come along once or twice every lifetime...
Well, I went to Lehigh, so I was rooting for the guy. It's not like many make it to the NFL from Lehigh and to have one on my team was awesome. So, I'm a little bummed. By the same token, if he was good enough, he would have earned more playing time, IMO.
I read somewhere he was in for 45 plays and had one thrown his way, I was really rooting for this Kid cause I am close to where he grew up and having a home town boy in the NFL and on MY TEAM was a huge plus. Hope he gets put on the practice squad and gets another shot.
looks like the Lehigh and local area Spadola fans aren't all that much different than the Gator and SEC area Tebow fans the Jets endured last season
I hope this isn't a surprise... EVERY team's fan base over/under value the players they see on a daily basis. I know Jaguars fans that think Stanzi is the next Tom Brady. Yet, we would think he sucks shit through a straw.
