I agree. This game is certainly important. Tenn is more competitive than people are giving them credit for as well, and it is in their house. Better to focus on today rather than think ahead..
I disagree. It isn't so much who we are playing or the toughness of the schedule as it is we need some confidence early and we need some breathing room. If we lose we are 2-2 in the beginning of the season. Being 3-1 we can start to afford to lose a game here and there and still have a winning record. This young team needs confidence. If we start losing a lot even though statistically we can make the playoffs it will hurt the young morale on the team.
It would be nice to get to 3-1 and then get to watch the Pats and Phins play in 2 of the rougher places in the NFL.
This is the way I look at it - not that a win today guarantees that the Jets are playoff contenders, but that a loss today makes it much less likely that they are, simply because playoff contenders beat teams like this. By the way, the Titans fans should be saying the exact same thing.
Jets schedule will rough up a bit in the coming weeks ... Fins have had a tough road for the first 8 games and need to merely stay afloat to contend in the 2nd half of the season
I'm unclear about the view some of you are taken that this Game does not mean much. Why ? because is not Atlanta or the Saints? The Titans are not that good? Really? First off a win is a win and that would put us to 3-1, which by the way not to many people gave us a chance in hell we would be. Second it proves we are good enough to beat the teams we have a chance to beat, on the road to boot, and it's a terrific confidence builder for a young team Third, it's exactly the kind of game we must win to have a chance at a wild card, against an AFC foe with wild card implications. THESE ARE EXACTLY THE GAMES THAT WE LOST LAST YEAR GIVING UP ANY SMALL CHANCE OF A PLAY OFF SPOT. Fourth, people are under estimating the Titans, their time of possession improvement alone from last year has made their D better, and their O more dangerous. Fifth, we will confirm the mighty media predictions that the Jets will win 3 games this year. Ah,ah,ah. Any victory after that is an indictment of their ignorance. Finally, and most important, because as Jets fans every victory is meaningful, exciting and necessary to keep us going in the right direction. Not to mention that a 3-1 record will be a partial indicator that the prediction of 4-5 wins max for the Jets is in great jeopardy. WE PLAY THE GAME TO WIN BABY...GO JETS
Next Monday night will be a true test, if we come away 4-1, I'll feel good about this team and be thinking playoffs.
Not many can go into New Orleans and get a W, ESPECIALLY in a primetime game ... I am quite concerned about tomorrow! lol  BUT the saving grace is if the Dolphins do lose, it will be on the road to an NFC opponent, which won't impact any playoff tiebreakers (which hopefully we are contending for towards the end of the season)
Not only this, also the Titans will likely be in contention for one of the wildcard spots where tiebreakers are enormous. We don't want to face a wildcard chase with a loss to TEN and thus being down by .5 games in the event of a tie. This is a very important game.
I think we still don't know where we stand. We had a lucky win, followed by getting our asses kicked. We'll know at the end of the year, but for 2013, all of it will be on a learning curve.
It's easy to know where we stand after this game. We don't have a QB, we commit too many penalties, we don't have a WR core, our special teams is awful and we are mediocre at best when we are on top of of our game. Otherwise we are near the bottom of the barrel.
We have yet another QB that doesn't respect the football. WE go into every game with The guarantee that our QB will commit at least two turnovers. I'm sick of it.... RESPECT the fucking football already!!!!!!!!!!!!
