It's disingenuious to assume Sanchez would be the starter. The fact is neither QB outplayed the other. That's a major reason why the competition was prolonged as long as it was. It was a dead heat and it was gonna be a real tough decision for the organization. At least you do realize now that Schotty was part of the problem.
That is like saying if Brees was good the Chargers don't draft Philip Rivers. Stevie Wonder could see who the better QB was in preseason. It was prolonged b/c the GM has all the power and he wanted his guy to start. Brian was a good OC for us and Mark was a much better QB under him.
Right! That is why the new GM in Chicago put his stamp on the team by drafting a QB to replace Cutler. Wait..... that didn't happen. Maybe Idzik doesn't think Mark is a good as you think he is. Maybe leading the league in turnovers the last 2 years had something to do with it?
My memory is shot to pieces, but can remember crappy call after crappy call from 'Ol Bri. Even Stevie Wonder could see , whats your excuse for an addled memory?
The new GM in Chicago brought in a new coach, did Idzik do that? mark hasn't done anything for Idzik so he has no loyalty to him. A new GM usually likes to pick a HC or QB(if not both), he didn't have a chance to pick a HC.
Funny isn't it........ This feels like a very similar story. http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap20...t-we-learned-thursday-sam-bradford-regressing
How does that feel similar? Sanchez didn't regress until after Brian left. SL had a bad game last night, was it Brian's fault Bradford missed open receivers all night including an easy TD in the 1st qtr? was it his fault the D got run on all night? Some things I am sure were his fault but fans will always blame the OC when things don't go well. Look at the NE game 2 weeks ago and Marty was being bashed. Rex lost his power, if he still had his power the "competition" would have been over quickly.
There is a couple safe assumption to make but they are just assumption. There is no doubt Mark played better in the preseason. That the does mean he would have started. It is also pretty safe assumption Idzik wanted Geno. If all the rumors about Rex being on the hot seat are true (and mostly likely are and were) No matter what Idzik said about having input in the Qb decision the decision is was and still is Rex's to make. Unless Idzik is or was prepared to fire Rex on the spot Rex knows he needs to win to keep his job regardless he will start whom he likes. if he thinks he does not need to win to keep his job Idzik might have more say appease the boss to keep my job. This is NY and the only way Rex survives the media, Dumb ass fans and Idzik is to win.
If a new GM just likes to pick a new HC or QB (If not both) then why didn't Emery replace Cutler too? A GM doesn't want to make moves for the fun of it. They make moves they feel are needed in order to have success. Emery felt that Cutler could be the guy. Idzik clearly didn't feel the same way about Sanchez.
A GM wants to put his stamp on the team. The Chi GM chose the HC, the NYJ GM chose the QB. This is assumed Cutler's last year in Chi if he doesn't come through the same way it is assumed this is rex's last year if he doesn't come through. Cutler has been a good #s guy but he melts in big situations. They brought in an offensive guru to coach the team. Very different situation.
Seriously? Sanchez was easily starting to regress under Schottie, Sparano accelerated the process and killed any confidence he had left. Yes it is BS fault, partly. He seems to specialise in putting QBs into difficult circumstances. Bradford had a bad game, no doubts there, and from what I saw looked like he was struggling to understand the plays/reads. Idzek hired MM and I'm guessing that that call would have been MMs not Rex or Idzeks, although its clear that Idzek wanted Geno in.
Not knowing if he is the guy and knowing he isn't are two different things. Emery said that no extensions would be signed when they hired Trestman. He wanted to see how they would work together. He wasn't looking to replace him right off the bat like Idzik was trying to replace Sanchez. Had Sanchez been the QB for Chicago instead of Cutler, Emery would have drafted a QB. And with good reason.
guys for the next 8 years, everytime the name mark sanchez is uttered junc will be there to defend him and remind you that it was the oc, but not bs, it was the defense, it was a good punt, it was the weapons. and all the while he will try to tell you what couldve, wouldve and shouldve happened to mark sanchez and how if x, y, z, p,q,r,a,b,c,d,e,f had happened that mark sanchez would still be the starter and leading the jets to success just like he LED them in 09 and 10. rinse and repeat 10,000 times
For christ sake.....for all intents and purposes the guy's fucking DEAD in NY at this point.....stop shooting the dead corpes all ready !
hobbes should almost be ready to reappear and remind us how he guaranteed the jets would be 3-1.... oh wait mark sanchez wasnt starting.
He actually improved across the board in 2011 but had a terrible final 3 games. The man has played on playoff caliber teams his entire career and has ONE playoff win- a home win over a 7-9 team. Cutler is a #s guy. and every time I post you will be on here to whine about me. I will always defend what I believe is right.
