Put a sock in it already. Smith is on pace to throw for about 4300 yards. When did Sanchez even come close to that? If you can't see the difference in the Jets offense this year and how much they are putting on this kid, you don't know football.
JetsFan is an issue troll on the ledge at this point. His issue is Geno Smith. I'd hate to be an issue troll on that issue right now.
Its easily the worst thread. The only reason it went anywhere and wasnt just lost right away was because everyone wanted to ridicule him. The whole self importance thing Jetsfan has is just icing on the cake.
Did you want this kid firing out the gates as Peyton Manning? Give it a fucking rest... you are delusional. And FYI... Sanchez was a turnover machine in a GOUND AND POUND type of Offense. Imagine the turnovers in this system we are running now.
Randall Cunningham was noting like Eli, so I'll leave that one out of it. But McNabb and Eli? I went to Syracuse for 7 years, my wife for 6, one son just graduated and one's a freshman. I bleed Orange, have been to or seen 75% of their games since 1977 and saw literally all of McNabbs games. Donanvan McNabb is my second favorite FB Orangmen of all time--LOVED the guy--but he isn't in the same stratosphere with Eli. Again, love McNabb and I watched almost every Philly game while he was there-- but he was INCREDIBLY inaccurate--was no where near the accomplished passer that Eli is, not in terms of any aspect of throwing the ball (maybe arm strength)--not accuracy, touch, deep ball, tight windows, reading defenses--none of it. McNabb was an incredibly strong athlete that could break plays with his arms and legs and was most dangerous when he was moving around and extending plays--never an Eli trait. In college he ran about 40% of the time and many were designed runs. Eli was and always will be a traditional stand up, drop back pocket quarteback. That was never McNabbs game. Geno's game is probably closer to Eli's game than McNabb's, and they aren't really similar. _
McNabb was one game from winning a superbowl, and did a whole lot of winning in Philly. Cunningham would have been in and won a superbowl in 1998 if not for a certain kicker. He was a key cog in one of the most high powered offenses ever. Why do you think Randall and McNabb never won a damn thing? I'd be pretty happy if Geno turned out as well as either of those guys.
I'd rather compare Geno to white QB's who can run out of the pocket if needed. If he can be like Steve Young, I'll be happy
rofl, very few people were ever rooting against Sanchez. Most of us had just seen enough and wanted him on the bench, and off the team. If Geno is as bad as Sanchez was three years in, I'll be calling for his head then too.
Geno got some Rodgers in him more mobile than athletic but still athletic Same mechanical issues Rodgers had coming out But I'm also seeing some Romo in him who is Rodgers with poor decision making Geno should fit in their category skill wise Mentally he's got a long way to go
I like the Rodgers/Romo play-style comparison...But Geno def does not have the confidence psyche that Romo gets when he plays poorly. But he also doesnt have the arm and accuracy of Rodgers right now. Geno also has footwork issues...What are some QB's that came out of college like that but improved it? Also, I just find it funny when we compare QB's to each other of the same race. I look forward to what black QB they will compare Teddy Bridgewater during the draft. I will just shake my head in amusement.
Aaron Rodgers, had mechanical problems coming out including footwork Geno's footwork is improving but he has to adjust to not "whipping" the ball and letting it just rip his arm is already good, it would be great if he fixed that
Just for the record, Geno is firing out of the gates like Peyton Manning and he's actually playing on a better level than Peyton was. Doesn't mean anything but the rookie record that Peyton Manning holds is most interceptions and while Geno is a potential threat to that record if he starts all season he probably really isn't. Peyton Manning had 2 TD's and 8 Int's after his first 3 starts and he was completing 54.4% of his passes. He had 683 yards passing in 12 more pass attempts than Geno, who has 801 yards now, has attempted. Obviously eras play into it some but the point is that what Geno is doing right now looks pretty similar, when adjusted for eras, to what Peyton Manning was doing as a raw rookie in 1998 with Marshall Faulk in the backfield behind him and Marvin Harrison as his security blanket.
Geno dirted one pass - one - against the Bills. And it was a screen play that was well covered. That was obviously intentional and it was a smart play. You spend all of this time talking about football and you obviously don't understand the game.
Come-on please stop dumbest comparison of all time just stop. Geni is not Peyton he is not Rodgers and he is certainty not a can't miss like Andrew Luck. The kid played like shit at TPA and only put up one TD. He played worse in NE and looked like bad weather effected him. He played well against Buffalo but with the big plays I will bump that up to very good. One good two bad games let the kid develop. Peyton Manning are you kidding me? This fan base is so over the top.
Why don't you compare him to EJ Manuel who was taken before Geno? Didn't they just play head to head? Anyone have the statline?
