    Dolphins sign Marvin Austin

    Mark Sanchez, Marvin Austin AP

The Dolphins were without defensive tackle Paul Soliai last Sunday against the Falcons because of a knee injury and they may be expecting him to miss a little more time based on a roster move they made on Monday.

Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports reports that the Dolphins have signed defensive tackle Marvin Austin. Austin was one of several free agent defensive linemen to work out for the Dolphins near the end of last week.

Austin was a second-round pick of the Giants in the 2011 draft despite missing the entire 2010 season at North Carolina serving an NCAA suspension. He then missed the entire 2011 season with a torn pectoral before returning to play in eight games for the Giants last season. Austin’s work wasn’t particularly distinguished and his most notable moment as a Giant was probably the fourth quarter hit this preseason that injured Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez’s shoulder. That wasn’t enough for him to make the club, however, and the Giants released him while making their cuts in August.

There’s been no official announcement of the move yet or of a corresponding roster move to open up a spot on the roster.

Not a fan, first he helped put UNC on probation then knocked out Mark.

    Lol clever thread title.

I still remember Mo Lewis putting Bledsoe out of the game, never would have imagined the that would be the beginning of the American Hope and Lovechild

No kidding. I was there for it too (Bachelor party weekend) and we all felt bad for the Pats and their fans at the time. (they were 0-2) That seems ridiculous now, but then the Pats were still down-trodden.

Or maybe we were still full of the post 9-11 brotherly love feeling we all had for any fellow American. Even Dolphin fans.

Whatever, but that and the tuck rule started all of this. Oh, and it didn't hurt they recorded the Rams practices leading up to that Super Bowl.

You mean he's going to knock Geno out when we play them?

Stupid title to the thread. Geno is far from a savior. And Mo Lewis was great.. This guy's a no name player.

yikes ... the defensive line is taking some hits but it is the deepest position on the roster.

First big Paul goes down and now Wake is out for 2 weeks ... good thing the bye comes soon
