Our Past 3 Draft Classes.

  1. Tannenbaum didn't have it in him to promote a youth movement. He was PETRIFIED of trusting a draft board/scouts/player development. he would do anything & everything to force his hand & avoid anything resembling patience.

To his credit it worked for about 2 years. But soon after there were holes all over the place. It cost him his job & rightfully so.

We have drafted very well on the defensive side, since the Vernon debacle

The recent drafts have been top heavy in defense, it's time to start bringing in some play makers on Offense. An elite WR, and solid TE are 2 priorities.

Our D-line is in the top 5 of the league. I'd like to add another OLB and to our front 7 to make it an elite group. D Davis is a rising star, I love his attitude and passion for the game, he hustles on every play.

Talking head on ESPN radio today said the Seahawks are doing so well primarily due to:

1- their mid-lower draft pics are all contributing and doing very well

2- including Wilson, their starting QB who makes less than $1M/yer which gives the 'Hawks plenty of cash to bring in a FA or 3.

He did say the party will be over in 2 years when they have to pay Wilson and several other players who currently make close to zero.

Jets are in a similar position with lots of young talent on rookie contracts, which means NOW'S the time to get it done before the salary cap tears us apart.

The past three drafts have definately been a lot more solid than 08-10.I also hope i'm wrong on this but I would have preferred drafting that tight end Eifert instead of Milliner with the 9th overall,I just have a bad feeling Milliner may turn out to be a bust.

Idzik seems to have a draft strategy of BPA in the early rounds (1-3) then draft for need after that, including keeping the O-Line well fed.

If the BPA in 2014 were pass rushing OLB, Safety, and Harris' replacement I wouldn't be mad.

MM could have rounds 4-7 plus a FA WR & TE and Rex would have the youngest, most dominant Defense for the next 5 years.

We retool the offense this coming draft early on. Plenty of skilled offensive players. Add a linebacker and safety a little later on and we'll have a good team all around not just an elite defense.

Can't stress that you need to be good on all 3 phases just not one.

We are developing a young QB. I'll be dammed if we neglect the offense EARLY AGAIN.

We need to put places in place offensively now. There's no more waiting

They won't, I'm willing to bet my house on that. With 40 mil and 12 draft picks next year, the offense won't be neglected.

The 40 million should be going to resigning players in house and getting some mid tier talent. Nothing too expensive.

Continue to develop in house talent.

the party is not over as long as they keep drafting well. as long as you guy young cheap guys who can play stepping up for the f.a's that price their way out teams can be competitive for a good stretch.of course thats as long as you have a qb in place already.

The $40M in cap space is a bit of an illusion since Idzik will have to start paying all these great draft pics we're talking about, starting with re-doing Mo Wilks contract. At least we won't be having $16M headed to one DB so that's refreshing.

We keep talking about cutting Tone, but can someone spell out his contract? I think he's on our book for at least another 2 years, right? And I know we front-loaded his contract so MAYBE keeping him around wont be a cap killer?

I think it was partially that he was not able to say no to the head coach and partially Sanchez. Examples are drafting Ghoulston against the adamant wishes of the scouting department to appease Mangini. Drafting Sanchez against the wishes of the scouting department to appease Rex. The contract he gave Revis which Tanny immediately said was a contract he did not want to do likely meaning he did it to appease Rex. Resigning Sanchez when many in the FO wanted to dump him last year.

Ultimately it is up to the GM to make a decision and say no and do what is best for the franchise even if it is against what the HC wants to do. The GM needs to look out for the long term future of the franchise. There have been a few articles since his firing hinting that Tanny could not say no to his head coaches. Ultimately I think that was the problem and that is what got him fired along with Sanchez's failure. Someone needed to be the fall guy for Sanchez's failures. That guy was Tanny. In another year it may be Rex as well.

The blueprint is there to build an elite FOOTBALL team, not just a defense. We live through the draft per Idzik. Hopefully we continue to stay the course.

We have the coaching on both sides. We are drafting well. Strike now and get that young talent!

Miami is getting better and the Bills blow. As far as the Jets, be realistic and try to see into the future. This is how I see it. Jets finish 8-8 or worse. As a reward for 3 straight seasons of not finishing above .500 , finishing 3rd in a crappy division and missing the playoffs 3 years in a row, Sexy Rexy gets fired. New coach brings in his own O.C.. Jets no longer have Rex to run the D and Geno needs to learn a new O in his 2nd year. Does anybody see it happening any other way?

nope. rex can coach. idzic knows this, he keeps the foundation steady brings in more pieces and geno thrives with the continuity of having the same o.c and wr's 2 years in a row. rex gets a ballhawk safety to put the final piece for the defense and jets hit their stride as brady calls it a career. the bills curse passing on geno the way we curse passing on marino and the pats fan wonder if brady has to pass away before the deal with the devil has expired.

atleast thats what happens in my happy place
