Jets are allowing 47.3% pass completion this season - that's the league's best. Their paltry 5.7 yards per completion is also top 3 quality. [I am sure it's the best - just this week's stats were not adjusted properly.] They are allowing but 190 yards through the air. QBR against Jets defense is 70.5 this season. While they have allowed their share of big plays (10 20+ passes) they haven't allowed anything above that - so far, 0 plays beyond 40. [Bills, on the contrast, got hit in the chin for KO twice today alone.] While they don't pick off many passes, it's due to the lack of high-power playmaker at safety. Their pass defense is thoroughly impressive for now. ========================================================= Jets defense is allowing paltry 3.2 yards per carry - good for about 80 yards through the ground. Caused 3 fumbles, but allowed ONE TD through the ground so far. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Now... Seattle is the only team with strong pass AND rush defense. I expect huge season for defensive guys. It's been really fun to watch the defense dominate.
The Defense has been incredible. I wish we could see some more turnover's or see the defense put some points on the board. It's only going to get better as the season progresses. 8 sacks today baby! Also, Barnes looked great out there today
Thanks Rex, more reason why we cannot get rid of this guy. This defense is good but Rex is overachieving with it. Its amazing to watch these guys get better and better each week.
Totally agree. I've been saying for a while that Rex is molding his defense to exactly what he needs. He picked 3 defensive lineman in the first for a reason. In Rex we trust.
Thats all fine and dandy but lets be real, the Jets haven't faced any top tier offenses at there best yet as far as far as the passing game. We will know more about the defense in the middle of the year after they have faced some of the top offenses. I can see the pass defense start to suffer but the run defense is easily top 3. Probably the best we've seen under RR. If it wasnt for that fluke run by Jackson today, the bills would be lucky to get 30 yards today.
This defense has been great. The depth is great where the 6-7 guys on the line that play make significant contributions. Now you have Harris and Davis flying around the field. Once the jets figure out the CB combinations out there this may...MAY get stingier.
And this defense is STILL gimped by lack of playmakers at OLBs and Safeties. A man can dream though... right?
today's game Wow a young hungry team to watch. A gift from the gods. I hate to say this but with the Giants playing so poorly it should be a fun week to read the papers and listen to the radio.
I said before the season started that if this team were in any other market the big story would have been about a young and fast front 4 with a lot of defensive potential. People that talk about the Jets as a joke or a circus with no talent spend too much time looking at headlines on the back page of the post. This defensive front of the Jets is just impressive. Aside from one broken play the Bills got nothing going on the ground and Spiller - a Jet killer with incredible speed - did nothing before getting hurt. Defensive just seems to tackle soundly and play very physical.
We have not been tested yet. We played a very good game against Tampa. NE was awful against our self destructing in a driving rain storm and today we beat up on a rookie QB. Once we do this against better offenses I will be more impressed. We have a rough stretch coming up against Ryan, Rothlesberger, Brady, Dalton and Brees. Lets see how we do in this stretch. While I think our pass D has a long ways to go the 8 sacks today and the shutting down of the Bills running game was impressive and encouraging.
If we can play complimentary football under RR we can contend, weve already seen this. I quite like the current coaching staff. I would like Rex to remain our HC moving forward.
The Bills are still a NFL team, just like the Jets the Bills could be 2-1 with a tough last second lost to the Pats, to get 8 sacks and shut down their running game while not playing their best game the Jets beat a team today and still have a lot of growing to do which is good, to win while you are still learning
Manuel coming into the game had been sacked once, the Bills defense sacked Newton 6 times last week, CJ Spiller had 9 yards...people will try to discredit the win and say well the Bills suck anyway. The Jets did everything they could to give that game away - turnovers, nearly 200 yards in penalties, bad coaching...yet they still found a way to win. Say what you want about Rex, but guys play hard for the guy.
Hey.......Jets have a weapon there not using too much yet at Safety....His name is Jaiwann Jarrett, This guy has playmaker-hardhitter written all over him. Receivers will soon become weary & leary with him roaming the Secondary.
I seriously think the Bills had more penalty yards than total yards. That game shouldn't have even been that close.
