surest hands on the team, its hard to put into technical terms but he just has a great capacity to beat his defenders or make a difficult grab at they're expense. Everything you could want from a veteran WR. It'd be nice to have a genuine top tier receiver on the team, I was sure that the jets would get it from Free Agency next year and I was wiling to write Tone off as a cap causality. but now? I hope he and Geno gain a great amount of chemistry and he's kept for consistencies sake alone. Dude had a career day today, whats past is past as long as he catches I don't give a damn what happened before.
Tone is a great #2 receiver. If they can restructure and get a real #1 and a tight end in here . Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk 2
Hill, Holmes, Kerley. Looks pretty good to me. You add a better 4th or bring up Spadola, and another Kellen Winslow, and we are golden.
Hill, Holmes, Kerley, and a top drafted rookie and we are set. Holmes needs to stay in a Jet uniform. People mauy hate him, but the guy is a pure playmaker when we have a competent quarterback. Keep him Idzik!!
Holmes had two really nice catches in game two vs. NE as well. The one early on 3rd down where Geno got hit and one in the 4th where he tight roped the sideline. People give Holmes a lot of flac but he plays hard. He was off to a great start last year before Sanchez injured him. Who knows when he will be back to 100% but he plays hard and can make plays like he did today. One big benefit to to the deep/intermediate passing game we have shown the last two games is it hopefully should open up some lanes for Holmes on slants and short passes where he can make some plays in space. While I love these deep balls I would love to see more slants and short passes to get Geno in a rhythm and comfortable. Those short passes are the ones that move the chains.
Did anyone see Holmes give high-5 to Idzik on the sidelines? it happened right after the TD, it was kinda awkward but Idzik is just awkward person in general so.
I've disliked Holmes since the Jets brought him in, but I'll admit it has to be extremely tough to play like he did today with all those screws in his foot. He's tough and a good receiver. I just wish he'd cut out the first down drop and point bullshit. Karma is going to bite him in the ass one day with that. I still don't trust him not to implode if things aren't going his way at any point in the season.
+1 I said this as soon as he caught the game winning TD. The guy did everything BUT "dog it" today like I said yesterday on these very same boards. He had a great game and some HUGE catches. He was real TONE TIME today!
I can't remember the last time Holmes had 100 yard + receiving game. I also can't remember the last time 2 Jet WRs had 100+ games either. We actually do seem to have a somewhat decent offense now. Powell also had 149 rushing yards at 5.5 a carry. I know it's the Bills, but that's like perfect balance. I hope we can put up similar numbers against other teams as well. I'm happy.
Let's see what happens v. the Titans. The better news is that with each passing game Geno acquires more intel. I really like what I am seeing here.
Holmes, Hill, Kerley and Marquise Lee or Sammy Watkins and Geno will have some serious weapons to work with.. With the offensive line playing as good as it is, and this ridic defense, the Jets will be back on top of a weak AFC in a year tops... Next years draft might be the most important draft of the last 10 years as it will determine the fate of this team for the next 5-7 years..
First thing they said on the news this morning was that a lot of writers are eating crow saying we were the worst team in football. THIS IS WHY you play the game.
Can someone please start a 'media eating crow' thread? We had to listen to MONTHS of Jet bashing in the offseasn, I'd like to read the 'oops, I suck as an analyst' columns to make me feel a bit validated for continuing to defend the team during the same period.
