My guess is Rex was going to call a timeout anyway to discuss the play. This gives him more time to go over it.
Bleed the clock? Theres still a whole quarter to play were only up by 8. We need to put more points on the board. Sent from my HTCEVODesign4G using Tapatalk 2
I wonder what the strategy is for this challenge? He clearly wasn't close...may a chance for MM to call in a nifty play??
I actually think I know what Rex did on that play. He was a little indecisive cause he wanted a measurement so he just challenged it instead of calling the TO. If he loses, he loses the TO anyway.
I think Rex's idea here was the playclock had burned down and we were gonna have to call A TO anyway.
This is why he is not a good HC, this is an easy call, punt the ball and don't challenge, make them go the length of the field. Terrible coaching Rex, reminds me of the Chicago game when he went for it and they did not make it, it allowed the bears to come back.
What an absolutely horrible play sequence - bad 3rd down call, bad challenge, bad 4th down call. If the Jets lose this game this is the reason why.
